Bort said this was supposed to come last season and it hasn't. The forums are in disarray, full of "PM sent," "spot filled," and "player signed" posts. Far too many players are in the upper echelon since it hasn't been updated in seasons.

I believe there needs to be a team-based marketplace where teams may edit and post their needs in addition to the existing player-based marketplace. Additionally, players under contract should be able to post a marketplace ad within 5 (?) days of their contract expiring.

- Setting a team's needs
Create a new "Team Needs" page (or as a tab on Trades/Offers) for owners/GMs which includes:
  - A check box for whether to advertise or not
  - Display current quantity for each position and have fields for desired quantity and level range
  - A description box for teams to talk about themselves: "hey, we're The Wonder Team, we have an active forum and always pay for equipment, come join us! PM me for info!" or "we need a possession receiver at WR2, and an agility LDE."
  - The option so that, when quantity = need, automatically to retract all offers remaining for players of that position. This prevents overloading when one forgets to manually retract all the currently tabled offers for one position.
  - Up to 5 Custom Slots, e.g. return specialist or nickel back, to which prospects may be tied since they may be filled by several positions (thanks Den)

-Changing Team's "Offers Sent" page (thanks Valhalla)
  - Integrate the recruiting tab with Marketplace so that all GMs on a team can see all of the players that are being recruited by the team in a tabular, sortable format instead of just offers sent.
  - rename the "Send PM" in Marketplace into "Contact" which would still trigger sending a PM to the player, but then also would keep track of the players contacted in the team's Recruiting page, so that all GMs can also see each player that has been contacted by the team.

- Team Marketplace appearance
  - Searchable by region, league level (Pro -> BBB), league, team overall rating, team average level, team needs by position
  - Otherwise similar to already existing Player Marketplace

- Team's Marketplace page appearance
  - Name, league, record, current league position, trophy case, description (as above)
  - Displayed needs by position (quantity desired minus quantity on roster) and desired level range
  - "Apply" button opening a dialogue box for which player would apply (similar to the boost function) which would generate a PM with a link to the player's marketplace ad (similar to a reverse contract offer, but no offer would be generated)

- Team Applications page
This could go on the Trades/Offers page under a new tab, "Applications." All players who have applied for a spot on the team are listed here in the current format of the Players Marketplace, including name, position, custom/boost, backup OK, desired salary/bonus, and "Make Offer" link.

- Impending Free Agent Marketplace
Allow players whose contracts end in 5 days (?) or less to post Marketplace ads. Have the ability to filter out impending FAs via the same means as one currently may filter out custom/boost, backup OK, and so on.

- Changing Players' "Contract Offers" Page (thanks Valhalla)
  - Marketplace style, sortable tabular view of all teams that have offered and contacted them instead of just the offers page they have now. This would be very effective if you implemented the rest of this suggestion because the player would be able to look at the team's information anytime without needing to see all of the same information in PM format.
  - Allow players to be able to show interest/select finalists out of all of their contacts/offers via a checkbox that the player could select and update so that teams could know whether they were rejected early or when the player makes his decision.

- Trading Block Update
  - Have the trading block function as another subset of the Marketplace similar to the Impending Free Agents, yet with the team to edit the fields.
  - Searchable and sortable by level, price tag, contract end date (!!!), and player-for-player or cash.
  - Provide for all players at all positions to be selected instead of just one (extend to Marketplace as well)

- General Marketplace Update
  - Sortable by attributes if build is open

This is to encourage the use of the marketplace and get all recruiting/trading stuff into one place.

I'd like to encourage everybody who's been using these forums exclusively to try out the marketplace. If there is something you think we could add to make things easier or something missing from the current two marketplace sections, please make suggestions in the suggestions forum.

I will be adding a "teams needs" section soon, as well, so we can get rid of teams looking for players forum.

I also plan on extending the FA section to allow players whose contracts expire within 5 days to post an ad, to cover that segment.

Thanks!

I've been trying to figure out a good method to make this work (interface wise) for a while, actually. I'd like to combine it with a "max signings per position" option.

Regarding receiving contracts while still an impending free-agent:Originally posted by Bort

I think it's reasonable, yes. Or we could provide for offers to be accepted and just not actually take effect until that date with a line to check for any overlap: if(this.end > that.begin) Go.Crazy();

That would involve adding a "start date" to contracts.

Not really. I think that would actually work. It would really just mean turning off the button when you're already on a team. If you renegotiate it would automatically reject any other contracts also, so that part's already covered.

I'm going to put this one middle priority right now. I'd like to maybe get some little things added and done if we can. Marketplace is kinda in-depth.

I have to say it sounds good, but I found it much easier to use the forum.

It is easier to sign people through the market place.

My guys have teams now so...

I support this thread but it that team should be able to have like a board and rank the FA's that want from #1 on their list all the way down to whatever# but each team should only be able to mark down a certain amount of players for each position at a time.
