Well sir, I hope you negotiated some extra bonus tokens in your compensation package, for your troubles.

I agree with this but I do think there has been more fear and upset over these changes than probably any others. The reason is that there are so many things changing all at once and the new system, especially the original one, is so complex. If people can't understand what is happening that makes the fear and anger about change ever greater.

There are 3 reasons people are upset:

1. Training changes are overly complicated, and not really necessary
2. Finance changes are kind of half-baked. (popcorn??)
3. Coaching changes are a blatant cash grab.

This.

I was totally against this last night. Now I am a bit more ok with it because the finance changes were simplified. I agree about (1) but I suspect that part of the reason they are changing is to make training more compatible with the new finance system. They kinda go together. Salary disappears for players except as a way to determine pre-game morale, so you can't use salary to train. So that along with the desire to give players more options leads us to the new training system. I am not crazy about it because I understand the current one and am good at it. But the more I look at the new one the more it makes sense.

I don't know much about coaching changes because I just retired my old season 1 player and didn't try to make a coach.

With the extra options, there won't be "cookie cutter" builds anymore. You can actually create more of a specialty player

No, you can't... Cookie cutter builds aren't around because of limited training options, they are around because the sim itself is designed in such a way where only specific builds actually work as intended. THAT is the cause of cookie cutter builds. All the new training does is give you more ways to build a player wrong, but the sim still only allows for a select few ways to succeed.

Tend to agree with this.

Plus the new archetypes limit the "fun and creativity" in building your player that these new training options are suppossed to encourage.

Sure you could cash them all in for 7 sp, but that will only help you short term. This would let players unlock some early training options while keeping things in perspective long term with the BT loss.

I'd be all for it, but It doesn't sound like Bort would. Apparently the nerfed training system is intended to compensate for the new archetypes.

You don't have to make a cookie cutter build to succeed. That is the silly attitude of the blind. People who can't see the possibilities of this new training method are pretty small minded when it comes to GLB.

I will say this: if the archetypes were supposed to help newbies avoid making really stupid, horrible players (which they largely do although they can still waste SP too early in SAs), then this new training system does the exact opposite. I think there are going to be a lot of ways to go wrong with your training early that could have really bad, long term effects. If you don't understand this you could really lose out on bonus tokens later on and that could cripple your player because bonus tokens are the new blood that makes players go.

Which makes no sense for why there are 'archetypes' at all since the main reason they were unveiled was to make it easier to build a more efficient player.

I don't think it will be that easy to completely cripple your build. Outside of the usual method of loading SA's early on.
