It would probably be helpful if the rows had alternating colors (tan, white, tan, white, etc...)
It's a small thing, but makes for easier reading.
I use this conditional formatting formula for spreadsheets at work:

I have tried to use a spreadsheet similar to this in another game it too like this one did not work. What am I doing wrong? A warning pops up that says can't any versio of microsoft excel to open this file with. I have windows xp and I take it that it won't work with that? What do I need to do to take advantage of this wonderful tool? Please help!? By the way I am somewhat computer illiterate so please spell it out as much as possible. It would also be helpful if somone would just PM me the info instead of just postin here and taking up all that room! LOL!

man, it's just so confusing. i hate numbers.
with respect, I will try to build my dude up while training whatever will give me the biggest return on daily training. unless they are skills I wont be needing. so If I train strength at.2, but training confidence or something else gives my .4 you bet i'll be going for the largest retun. I'll use lvl up points to train the big skills.
Is this faulty reasoning? training something at .2 seems like a wasted day of training

I created a spreadsheet that I feel makes it easier to plan out player training. You can enter all your attributes and special abilities for each position and assign target values that you want to reach.
The file can be downloaded here:

Questions regarding it's operation should be posted on this thread.
FAQ:
Q: How does XP Gained work?
A: The XP Gained row is what calculates your Level, XP until Level Up, and XP per Day. Start by finding the column for today's day(found on your GLB homepage)
Next use the following formula to figure out what you should initially enter into this field: (Current Level*1000) + Current XP = Initial XP Gained
You can start from any level on any day.
Each day you'll enter your Current XP into the XP Today field located in the XP CALCULATOR. You'll enter Y into the Level Up if you are now a level higher than you were last night. The calculator will return the amount of XP that you gained since yesterday and you'll enter this into the next day.
If you don't feel like entering all this every day, you can skip a couple days. If you level up twice since the last time you input XP Gained, just be sure to enter in multiples of 1000 into one of the skipped days until the Level is correct.
Q: What is the Meter?
A: This shows how many points under your Target you are. It's how many points you need to gain to reach the goal.
Q: What is the Target?
A: A user defined skill point goal that you want to reach for each attribute.
Q: What is the Target Day?
A: A user defined goal day that you want to reach the Target on or before.
Q: What is Target Warning Tolerance and Target Day Warning Tolerance?
A: A user defined threshold for setting a range of how far below the Target and Target Day that will show Red numbers in the attribute fields. If you "break" the threshold, then you won't be warned because you're within the range that you specified.
Let's say you have a QB who has a Throwing attribute of 30 and it's Day 20.
You had set your Target to 35 and Target Day to 22.
And your Target Warning Tolerance is 3, with a Target Day Warning Tolerance of 2.
Your Throwing attribute would appear Red for Day 20.
Let's say you have a couple skill points kicking around and you apply 3 of them Throwing so you now have 33. You have now broken the threshold and are in your acceptable range.
Q: What is the Level?
A: When XP Gained is entered it will show your current Level. See How does XP Gained work?
I noticed a little bug with the formatting, some fields may not show the correct color. The meter is working fine which is what I have been mainly looking at anyway. When I have time I'll correct it and update.
Please post any ideas or suggestions you have that might help make this journal better.
