To be honest if you go to just about any thread on position guides there is very rarely any consensus. Maybe on a few attributes but on an entire build for a position no.

Hell go look at the advice on how to build a kicker ? That should be the easiest position to perfect and there are some drastic opinion differences.

Also I think in a small way builds on their own may not make sense until you view the builds of the other dots around that position on a team.

The first 50 seasons of GLB were explorers building dots and trying to figure it out. I think what happened is a lot of people found a good and easy way to build dots and made this their standard for builds. However, over time it's become the "best" way to build dots to a lot of people and the only way to build dots.

This site is an absolute mess for reliable information with terrible searching. So when you do "ask why" you get the same old answers like "because it's the best way". When in reality it was that perfect line of easy vs good dots.

Challenging the status quo is almost discouraged, so I can see why dots have lessened.

Ya know... ya'll r nutz. I've known most of you (if not all) for more years than I care to count. Built dots for some... ran your offenses (never said I was great... yet)... scouted... yucked it up in your forums... and generally done my best to keep things on an even keel. In the decade+ (s?) I've been here, I've only had to 'block' 3 people. Fer chrissakes... I even got along with ol' JDBolick. I don't think I was his best friend but we got along.
How you guys get is like one huge dysfunctional family. Snipe'n and grouse'n and barkin like a bunch'a dogs. I don't need earplugs... I need eyedrops.

As for building and personal preferences... jeeze... it's yer blasted MONEY. You bought the flex... spend it in whatever way makes ya happy. And if someone says "That's wrong"... don't getcher panties inna wad... just smile and say, "Thanks." and roll on. I promise you I've wasted plenty of dots' lives in my time here. Built wild ideas and laughed when I hit the recycle button. And I've built WL lads too. I do what I do and I can do what I'm asked... generally... if I don't screw it up. I swear... ya'll need a TO, baby.

This is the answer. A build guide for the new players made in the same vein as the old RayRay guides ( I think it was rayray, correct me if i'm wrong) but updated for the new system. It will need to be step by step and include every important detail like height/weight, which additional SA's, VA's to get...etc..etc..etc..

And then it needs to be pinned up top in the FAQ, player guides and newbie help forum.

I remember back when I found the rayray guides how big a help it was to me. It would have taken me ages to learn things about each position that the guide laid out for me.

I build the crappiest dots in the entirety of glb. Bow down to my greatness

I've just been using the same builds since season 10 because thats what the team owner wanted back then and I just don't know any better.
