why does a player with 15 vision (I'm guessing) get off that route?

my take is vision needs to be more important to qb's

Don't get mad but I disagree... at least with using the play link you posted. I see the LB bearing down, unblocked, on the Scatback. At this level, that's an almost guaranteed loss of yards if he chucks that short toss to the scatback. Instead, he 'sees' the LB and looks for a better option, finding it in the TE (even though an argument can be made for the WR yelling, 'I'm Open!').
I don't disagree that QB vision has always been a questionable part of the game. Seen FAR too many missed open looks and FAR too many throws into a sea of defenders to think QB's are really this blind/stupid. I can understand the occasional mistake... but it happens WAY too much to be called 'occasional'... more like "likely on any down". QB's... even low level ones... just ain't as stupid as they play in this game.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm pretty sure there's a huge vision buff in the early leagues.

This QB with 57 vision got to his 7th progression

Also, on a semi related note... QB release is heavily influenced by pressure. You really have to get that Open man vs. Route Distance slider tuned in. If it's too far into the RD side, the QB will always pass up open WRs if he has the time, opting for more Route Distance.

Does that QB have quick read? Quick read is lolz SA when it fires.

Also I generally recommend staying at "-100 OPEN MAN" on the QB slider.

Basically what that slider does is it performs a check against what type of play it is in Bort's package set-up (short vs medium vs long) but the issue is Bort's default distance set-up is basically useless and likely not how you want to use the play with custom progressions.

So all anything besides -100 open man does, is put an unnecessary "blindness" on the QB to not throw to shorter routes (if the play is a medium or long play per Bort's groupings 15 years ago before custom progressions existed...)

It's funny that the tool tip doesn't read like that at all. That's probably another thing for the suggestion box.

"wait for routes to complete before passing"

like on this play, it seems like it would just wait for the TE to run to the sideline, because that's where the route completes

personally I don't like -100, because it seems to be really jumpy, but I do run around -75.

Miracles, personally.

I just fired all my CPU dots and hired new ones.

the lb is 10 yards apart when the qb breaks off, with no vision

how does he see a defender that far off with no vision is the question. also while not having vision to pick up the open wr. Vision on qb's should be more important and more constant is my point

May I suggest, don't read a whole lot into anything a rookie QB does, good or bad.
Hell for all we know, Tom Brady played tether ball at recess in kindergarten, and supplemented that with the merry-go-round.

I mean, do as you will, but my definition of what the slider does is 100% correct.

Keep in mind the slider was MADE before custom progressions or the OAI existed. So it's made for when GLB was 100% casual leagues, and Bort decided what plays were short vs medium vs long (which is how he grouped the packages, based on the highlighted primary (1st) read.

I've led WL in passing quite a few times over the years, and am very confident in my understand of QB tactics, for whatever that's worth.

I could be wrong, but I think there's random code alterations/buffs to passing in lower leagues to make it "usable".

It's highly possible that Bort made the vision checks way easier to clear in early leagues than he should have. Then you just need a bit of luck in rolls to start having star wars lasers from the qb's eyes all over the field?

how much do you not like this discussion boss?

LOL, the discussion is fine bro
The first 2-3 seasons in the current mold are at worst 95% meaningless for a QB unless the build sucks. When the new system comes in, I expect the 1st season to still be pointless in terms of this discussion, but perhaps S2 as it progresses, may have some merit for reading some things into the picture. We'll see...
