Rankings after Game #14:

1) Contender: Great JPEGs. Beat Vienna (in tourney); Brazilian; Houston (x2 including tourney); Jericho (x2 including tourney); Lost to: Vienna (by 1); Jericho

JPEGs has beaten both the teams it lost to by larger margins in the tourney and has beaten all the other top teams, so at this point they seem like the best team in the league. JPEGs has a higher value roster than most other teams in the league so as the season moves forward, JPEG's advantage against most teams tends to grow.

2) Fading a bit, but still a top team (Minor League Glory Team): Vienna Ritterbrüder. Beat: Houston (by 7); Brazilian; JPEGs (by 1); Lost to: Jericho (by 36); JPEGs (by 10 in tourney)

Not dominating the way they have in seasons past and showing vulnerabilities in some 2nd half of the season games with a loss and a couple of close victories, but nonetheless still a force to be reckoned with.

3) Contender: Brazilian Farmers. Beat Houston; Jericho; Lost to: Vienna (x2); JPEGs

Brazilian says they're starting to pay some attention to their builds, and there is a noticeable improvement in their recent ability, which is proving to be very painful news for other teams in the league. If they decide to game plan once they get into the playoffs, they could be nearly unbeatable.

4) Pretender: Houston Gamblers. Beat Jericho; Lost to: Brazilian; Vienna (by 7), JPEGs (x2 including tourney)

Winning games against the weaker opponents but not much of a challenge for the serious Contenders in Elite. What Houston has done this season, though, is to be a good testing ground for spotting when teams that dominated in the minors but don't have what appear to be long-term builds, start to falter.

5) Fading and Fighting for Relevancy: Jericho Walls (Declining Minor League Glory Team). Beat JPEGs, Vienna. Lost to: CCIA; Houston; Brazilian; JPEGs (x2 including tourney)

The low point of their season was losing against a 1-8 CCIA team, becoming the first team that was ranked in the preseason top 5 to lose to a team ranked outside the preseason top 5. The high points were their upset of fellow Minor League Glory team, Vienna, and their early season win over JPEGs. Jericho has clearly stepped up their game planning to try and compensate for their faltering builds. But I think it only delays the inevitable. As the poet said, "How quickly did their glory fade! Oh the minor charge they made! All the good teams said fyb's!"

6) Good team: Paris Smexies. Beat: all the teams outside the preseason top 5 teams. Lost to: all the Preseason Top 5 teams; plus Hispania (non-Elite team in the tourney)

Paris made roster moves to improve their roster from last season (although they still don't have a high value roster) and also Paris seems to be trying harder with their AI. Paris has done a good job beating teams they should be able to beat (with the one exception of their tourney loss to Hispania) but Paris has not been able to beat any team in the the top-5 teams and therefore has reached their ceiling ranking of #6 unless they can beat a team in the top 5. Next game against Jericho is their best opportunity, and if they win it, they could take the #5 spot.

7) Honorable Mention: Hostile Royal Takeover

They've had some really nice performances against some of the better teams, including close losses to JPEGs and Houston, and a fairly close loss to Brazilian Their defense is excellent especially their pass defense but their pass-first offense is not effective at this point in their builds; they are losing too often to lesser teams.

8) Honorable Mention: Corpus Christi Illegal Aliens. Beat: Jericho. Lost to: Everyone except Barcelona and Gridiron

Had a lot of losses this season but also had a shocking upset of one of the top 5 teams. More than half of CCIAs dots are now over lvl 64, although they are still under-leveled compared to most other teams and it's still the case that none of them have any advanced equip (and most of their opponents do).

9) Limping Along: All the King's Men

They don't gameplan and it's catching up to them; losing a lot of games this season, including a loss to Gridiron (by 1) and a tourney loss to non-elite team Black Hand (by 1).

I will briefly comment on the remaining teams:

Other Alpha Conference teams:
Barcelona - Lost to a non-Elite team (HPAS) by an 87 point margin in the tourney; Houston beat them by 83 points.

Other Zeta Conference teams:
Gridiron - JPEGs beat them by 104 points
DSWC - JPEGs beat the by 81 points; Vienna beat them by 80 points; Jericho beat them by 79 points. Lost to a non-Elite team (HPAS) by 52 in the tourney.

So that's why I don't consider any of these remaining teams worthy of being ranked at this point.

Week 15 Main Event: Houston vs JPEGs: JPEGs won 37-6 early in the season; the rematch is shaping up as a preview of the likely Conference championship game with these teams holding #1 and #2 in their Conference rankings.

Week 15 Undercard: Jericho vs Paris: Jericho won 34-10 in the season opener. Jericho has slipped a lot since then as teams with better long-term builds have begun to surpass them. But Paris doesn't have great long-term builds either, so I'm not sure if Paris will be able to do much better this time around. These teams are currently ranked #3 and #4 in their Conference and #5 and #6 overall.

Rankings after Game #15:

Note: unless there is an upset this will be the final rankings this season.

1) Contender: Great JPEGs. Beat Vienna (in tourney); Brazilian; Houston (x3 including tourney); Jericho (x2 including tourney); Lost to: Vienna (by 1); Jericho

Ave player effective level: +10
Forecast for next season: JPEGs looks to be a top team again next season and head straight to Pros.

Ave player effective level: +7
Forecast for next season: Without a significant roster overhaul, Vienna should be a good team next season but not a top team, and can be a good Regional Pro team but not a good Pro team.

Ave player effective level: +11
Forecast for next season: Brazilian looks to be a top team again next season and eventually their dots will go to their parent teams in WL/Pros.

4) Pretender: Houston Gamblers. Beat Jericho; Lost to: Brazilian; Vienna (by 7), JPEGs (x3 including tourney)

Winning games against the weaker opponents but not much of a challenge for the serious Contenders in Elite. What Houston has done this season, though, is to be a good testing ground for spotting when teams that dominated in the minors but don't have what appear to be long-term builds, start to falter.

Ave player effective level: +10
Forecast for next season: Houston should be a good team next season like this season, and can be a good Regional Pro team but not a good Pro team.

Ave player effective level: +6
Forecast for next season: Without a massive roster overhaul, Jericho will be a borderline playoff team next season, and will only find any success if they go to the scrub leagues in Regional Pro.

Paris has done a good job beating teams they should be able to beat (with the one exception of their tourney loss to Hispania) but Paris has not been able to beat any team in the the top-5 teams and therefore has reached their ceiling ranking of #6.

Ave player effective level: +6
Forecast for next season: Without a massive roster overhaul, Paris will again be a borderline playoff team next season, and will only find any success if they go to the scrub leagues in Regional Pro.

Ave player effective level: +9
Forecast for next season: HRT should be a borderline playoff team next season like this season, and can be a good Regional Pro team but not a good Pro team.

Ave player effective level: +12
Forecast for next season: CCIA looks to be a good team next season, although still be under-leveled compared to other teams. In two seasons once everyone hits lvl 79 CCIA will emerge as a very good Pro team.

9) Limping Along: All the King's Men

They don't gameplan and it's catching up to them; losing a lot of games this season, including a loss to Gridiron (by 1) and a tourney loss to non-elite team Black Hand (by 1).

Ave player effective level: +9
Forecast for next season: ATKM looks to be a borderline playoff team again next season and eventually many of their dots will go to good teams in WL/Pros.

I will briefly comment on the remaining teams:

Other Alpha Conference teams:
Barcelona - Lost to a non-Elite team (HPAS) by an 87 point margin in the tourney; Houston beat them by 83 points.

Week 16 Main Event: Jericho vs Houston: Houston won 26-14 when these teams met earlier in the season.

Week 16 Undercard: none

Rankings after Game #16:

final regular season rankings

1) Contender: Great JPEGs. Beat Brazilian; Vienna (in tourney); Jericho (x2 including tourney); Houston (x3 including tourney); Lost to: Jericho; Vienna (by 1)

Brings a 10 game winning streak into the playoffs.

Ave player effective level: +10
Forecast for next season: JPEGs looks to be a top team again next season and head straight to Pros.

2) Contender: Brazilian Farmers. Beat CCIA (in last 7 games when CCIA was playing much better); Jericho; Houston; Lost to: Vienna (x2); JPEGs

Brazilian says they're starting to pay some attention to their builds, and there is a noticeable improvement in their recent ability, which is proving to be very painful news for other teams in the league. If they decide to game plan once they get into the playoffs, they could be nearly unbeatable.

Ave player effective level: +11
Forecast for next season: Brazilian looks to be a top team again next season and eventually their dots will go to their parent teams in WL/Pros.

3) Rising Star: Corpus Christi Illegal Aliens. Started the season 1-8, but finished 5-2 including wins over Vienna and Jericho and losses to HRT and Brazilian

Still under-leveled and under-equipped compared to their opponents, CCIA has nonetheless shown a strong rebound in their last seven games once their players started to get lvl 64 equipment. CCIA is the only team not ranked in the Preseason top-5 to beat any of the Preseason top-5 teams, and they've now done it twice. The first time they did it was a "wow, who would have thought?" moment but doing it twice shows this team is for real.

Ave player effective level: +12
Forecast for next season: CCIA looks to be a good team next season, although still be under-leveled compared to other teams. In two seasons once everyone hits lvl 79 CCIA will emerge as a very good Pro team.

4) Fading (Minor League Glory Team): Vienna Ritterbrüder. Beat: Brazilian (x2); JPEGs (by 1); Houston (by 7); Lost to: CCIA, Jericho (by 36); JPEGs (by 10 in tourney)

Not dominating the way they have in seasons past and showing vulnerabilities in some 2nd half of the season games becoming one of two Preseason top-5 teams to drop games to CCIA and with an additional loss and a couple of close victories/escapes in the second half of the season.

Ave player effective level: +7
Forecast for next season: Without a significant roster overhaul, Vienna should be a good team next season but not a top team, and can be a good Regional Pro team but not a good Pro team.

5) Fading (Minor League Glory Team): Jericho Walls. Beat JPEGs, Vienna, Houston. Lost to: CCIA; Houston; Brazilian; JPEGs (x2 including tourney)

The first half of the season saw Jericho beat JPEGs only to then be soundly thrashed by both Houston and Brazilian. In the second half of the season, JPEGs came back and beat Jericho twice by healthy margins and Jericho also lost to a then 1-8 CCIA team, becoming the first team that was ranked in the preseason top 5 to lose to a team ranked outside the preseason top 5, but did turn around and beat Vienna and Houston. Jericho has clearly stepped up their game planning to try and compensate for their faltering builds. But I think it only delays the inevitable. As the poet said, "How quickly did their glory fade! Oh the minor charge they made! All the good teams said fyb's!"

Ave player effective level: +6
Forecast for next season: Without a massive roster overhaul, Jericho will be a borderline playoff team next season, and will only find any success if they go to the scrub leagues in Regional Pro.

6) Pretender: Houston Gamblers. Beat Jericho; Lost to: Jericho; Vienna (by 7); Brazilian; JPEGs (x3 including tourney)

Won their games against the weaker opponents but not much of a challenge for the serious Contenders in Elite. Houston has less wins against preseason top-5 teams than a CCIA squad that started 1-8.

Ave player effective level: +10
Forecast for next season: Houston should be a good team next season like this season, and can be a good Regional Pro team but not a good Pro team.

7) Honorable Mention: Paris Smexies

A tourney loss to non-Elite team Hispania, plus a final regular season loss to DSWC, which left them with a losing record, on top of Paris's inability to beat (a la CCIA, or come close to beating a la HRT) any of the Preseason top-5 teams, marred what was otherwise a good effort.

Ave player effective level: +7
Forecast for next season: Without a massive roster overhaul, Paris will again be a borderline playoff team next season, and will only find any success if they go to the scrub leagues in Regional Pro.

8) Honorable Mention: Hostile Royal Takeover

They've had some really nice performances against some of the better teams, including beating CCIA (in the final 7 games when CCIA was playing much better), close losses to JPEGs and Houston, and a fairly close loss to Brazilian But they ended the regular season with blowout losses to Vienna and Brazilian which exposed flaws in what was previously a highly rated defense.

Ave player effective level: +9
Forecast for next season: HRT should be a borderline playoff team next season like this season, and can be a good Regional Pro team but not a good Pro team.

Ave player effective level: +8

Other Zeta Conference teams:
DSWC - JPEGs beat the by 81 points; Vienna beat them by 80 points; Jericho beat them by 79 points. Lost to a non-Elite team (HPAS) by 52 in the tourney.
Ave player effective level: +9

Gridiron - JPEGs beat them by 104 points and again by 90 points
Ave player effective level: +9

Forecast for next season: these remaining teams will only find any success if they go to the scrub leagues in Regional Pro.
