I like PHB to have natural 103 str or better. I put most of the eq in speed because if you do not have at least 140 overall you get killed on outside runs.....
I think the best I've usually seen have about 90 natural speed with 100+ strength and put most of their EQ into speed to make up the diff. (don't forget about 80+ agility).

One of the best I've ever seen had 71.1 agility.

yeah speed EQ is def the way to go.
you can make Speed the 3rd priority, allowing you to crush Strength and Carry

Actually that doesn't surprise me. I've seen plenty posted about them and have seen agility lower than 80 on several. I've just never built one myself. Too many people wanting someone to block for their Power HB's.

The reality is that there are a lot of different ways to build an effective power HB. You can go high agility or low agility, high speed or low speed. You have to invest heavily in strength and carrying along with break tackle AEQ. Regarding the OP, I have seen a few power backs that put equipment in strength and were therefore very effective in short yardage. The problem is that it's a niche build and the running game in this sim is much more about getting to the outside and having broken tackles lead to long runs. So speed is going to be important. For that matter, your velocity is factored into the tackle equation as well, so the faster you're going relative to your opponent, the harder you are to tackle.
