So I was reading on op-Ed in the NYT, about "what to be afraid of". It was a reality check, so to speak, about real dangers versus the fallacy of the terrorist ready to strike the mall or school down the street from me.

The reason I mention it is because of the author's claim: the U.S. spends $10,000 per cancer death but $500,000,000 per terror death.

Hey, at least if you stopped spending money on preventing terrorists from killing your people, there would be fewer people dying of cancer.

We could also fix that problem if we let more people die from terrorist attacks.

You know we spend infinity dollars per polio death every year too? We should probably address the most egregious issues first and cut funding there before we touch the terror budget.

Eliminate the Department of Homeland Security. That abomination never should have come into existence.

I wonder if Bush III has the stones to undo Bush II's legacy?

Remember that Bush II adamantly opposed creating the Department of Homeland Security, saying that it was unnecessary bureaucracy. He knuckled under after media pressure and that 9/11 widows group kept harping at him about it.

This is a different thread jd:

1) Learn some forum etiquette.
2) The only one that appears mad is the one jumping to conclusions that they are being insulted.

There would be more money to prevent cancer deaths if we stopped feeding the fear-machine.

I just wish that if we were going to feed the war machine that we would actually fight to win rather than trying to be all things to all people.
