As a Niners fan, all I can say is wow.

Did they not learn from the 49ers loss to the Ravens in the Superbowl? 4 plays inside the 5, all passes in the loss.

Seahawks have Marshawn Lynch and they don't even bother to run from the 1?

Amateurish call.

Pray that the Niners don't try to poach this fool from the Hawks', he's known for making these type of calls on a regular basis.

interesting stat I heard this morning was that apparently Marshawn only scored from the 1 once all season? I didn't give the article more than a quick skim, but was suggestive that he/their o-line did not perform as well with the d stacked like they would be on a 1 yd situation

The flip side is that the Patriots were one of the worst teams in the league at defending the run in short yardage / goal line.

a 20% success rate isn't something I'd want to try to bank on...

true enough. I'm definitely not defending the play call, but did think this offered a bit of insight. I think it also mentioned that they had thought about an intentional delay of game to give them some extra space.

While I agree with this I think Seattle also got stuffed on a 3rd and short earlier in the game when they settled for a FG so maybe that was also in the back of their mind

There was a pass from the 1 yd line this season 108 attempts, prior to that play …. with 0 resulting in an interception.
On the 109th pass, there was an interception. Bad play call or bad execution?

I thought it was the greatest play call of the year.

But seriously people need to stop saying Seattle lost the game. If it wasnt for that freak fluke catch they wouldnt have been int he position anyways. Pats won the game. They BAITED Seattle into that play.

Uh, went goal line all big men selling the run refused to call a time out to force Seattle to make a decision.

Belichick was hoping he did exactly what happened. You are naive if you think that he wasnt begging them to throw the ball with the personnel and defense he had lined up. He knew a run was a death sentence so he dared them to pass it and they took the bait.

ugh.... this person right here is the main reason why I didn't want the Patriots to win.

Because I think there was a reason seattle threw the ball other then "GEE JUST CAUSE"?

Im not saying it was some genius move but there was a reason for what happened. The patriots D was sitting on the run praying they would throw it.

Baited is the wrong word.
They read it very well and were in position to capitalize if Seattle did what they did, but by no means did they 'bait' Seattle into running that play
