As much as Catch22 helped the game, we hurt it in his exit. Was great forum chatter, but by not coming out by Bort himself and saying this was just a bad thing that happened, he pretty much left it to be explained rather by Catch22 himself.

This is hard to do but as mentioned. Bort and DD should have had this mindset pushed down their employees throats if need be. Anything else shouldn't have been tolerated. We could make excuses and say, the game grew beyond what they estimated, they were holding on for dear life at first to accommodate the ever expanding customer base. But that is excuses and if you have a very active revenue stream, you spend that in more constructive ways that living it up. Unless that was their goal from the start, hell they bought GLB, we didn't think it was that great, let's make some other games and take our chances that they like them too. I mean who really knows what goes on behind the scenes, we have to speculate and often the customers aren't really understanding or even care about the details of how the game is made.... they are here to have fun, keep it simple.

I am 100% sure GLB Classic can even be better than it was at its prime...I have no doubt...problem is convincing Bort he still has a diamond here.

Euchrid is 1 of the better admins for sure...I've had good relationships with some others as well like Pallow,EllisBell and Max Zorin when he was active.

actually Catch wasn't allowed to explain it....and when he did under a different account that quickly got deleted as well...I wasn't a big fan of catch but he was active in the forums and did some things to better the game..also did some harm to the game but thats another issue...imo catch got done wrong by GLB and thats screwed up to be treated the way he did.

I would agree on this, I'd say many active gamers have never even heard of this game. The perception of a broken sim in BETA at a premium price lost my team most of its agents over the years. They just gave up on the game. Honestly, I think all the revenue went to salaries of the people supporting it, when they saw it drying up they didn't have that anymore to push towards making it better. They went in another direction and thought they had better ideas to make new games. It's a cutthroat business very similar to thinking your band will get signed to a record label or people will love your art because you do.

Yeah, some things to make people stick around like a record book, coaching records, team records, better stat-keeping.

Create a portion of the game where you draft players instead of recruiting at every level. I think that would be fun.

Right, could have different types of leagues. Different rules for each to make them unique. Not pushed all the free players out if they couldn't buy flex. Why do you think games have sales, it's to bring new life back into the game. The Black Friday sale helped that but that is not what it used to be and was only once a year. They fixed things like being able to start a dot anytime during offseason, one of the best moves they made. Thinking they moved out of BETA faster than they really needed to from pressure from the customers for a stable sim when that is really what challenged us to play the game, what is the sim going to be like this season, who knows? let's see, sim, sim, sim.

People get mad at games, pure and simple. No since in fueling the fire in ways that the ADMIN have directly effected the game.

If you ignore it, the game is "abandoned", though. If you respond, you're "trolling". If you're professional, you're "out of touch".

I'm just going to be myself and not give a shit with pretension.

But the game got to a point where "making people stick around" wasn't sustainable.

And then you need to "get new people", and adding a couple more stats is...not going to do that.

I was under the impression 1 could respond without the trolling and still be professional

Advertising this game would accomplish that but again what do I know

Something that might be similar is the restaurant industry. Only about 10% of people complain, the rest just leave. If people are complaining it's for some reason and just best to do your best with each situation. As a coder and having influence on the games being made, I'm sure it hurts to see the reaction the new games are getting. Not a typical situation to have to deal with the public reaction and stay motivated as well. I do feel for you a bit honestly. I'm all about tough love though, get back in there and keep fighting for your games.

No money for that now. Situation is what is it currently, small team wanting to get back what they once had by doing new things that they feel would be successful. No one spends a great amount of effort on making a game thinking or wanting it to not be great. At least I sure hope not. The reason I suggested a top game engine, Unity3D, Unreal Engine 4 or CryEngine would benefit this team I believe and make them more dynamic, as long as the assets can be produced. That is like 70% of a game.
