I didn't read through the whole thread, so I don't know if this has been suggested before.

What if you keep the top 10 WL teams in each conference and promote 3 teams from each new pro league?

The 9th and 10th place teams are often pretty competitive and might've been 9-7 or 8-8 and just missed the playoffs due to tiebreakers. Still pretty solid teams though and could've made the playoffs with a break here or there, maybe a result in a game involving 2 completely different teams changes the way tiebreakers are calculated. You can make a better case for 9th and 10th than for 11th and 12th who will probably have a losing record.

So you demote 12 teams and need 12 to promote, that's 3 per league. Take both conference champions, then to decide the 3rd team from the league, take the winner of the game between the 2 CCG losers. They already play on day 40, make that game mean something (since the league championship game on day 40 doesn't mean much).

Every team that promotes to WL will have to have won at least 3 playoff games. That consolation game is already scheduled, so nothing new has to be done there. It keeps quality WL teams in WL and it keeps the pro playoffs still fairly meaningful, plus it makes Day 40 important now.

i mentioned this same idea to a friend a few days ago. Everything is already in place to move three instead of four teams, Instead of getting a bronze trophy, they get to go to the WL.

Roger that!

Plus 1

Competition is the key. Shake things up. Make everybody work the whole season. Make the new Pro Leagues mean something.

That is a nice compromise between the two sides. I like it a lot!

Suggest it - I really like it. It makes like a Wild Card system to stay in WL and also creates a 3rd place game which I already suggested. I got a lot of pushback on the 3rd place game though so I doubt they will implement your suggestion. But maybe they will.

I like this. I've always thought that some of the demoting WL teams were often better than most of the promoting Pro teams. The idea is to have the best teams in WL after all.

Eta: the highest demoting niboris team was actually mine, I demoted the #2 team in niboris rankings as a 9seed because I never game planned for an entire season, that is how it should be as it gives every up and coming pro team their shot at the title, if yu want to stay in the wl make the playoffs, 16 teams do it every season

I like the Playoffs or demote thing in WL and Pro. That's one of the best perks of the new system in my opinion. It makes every regular season game in the 4 pro leagues mean that much more and the way WL operates is about perfect. Half the teams make it another season, while the door opens for the other half to get new blood in there with their eyes on the prize.

Natural Selection keeps the best of the best in WL already, might as well let as many people up there as plausible season in and season out. 50% turnover is perfect because sometimes people who are not yet at the top and have things figured out deserve the opportunity to get up and test themselves against the alpha dogs.
