AND...if one of my concepts doesn't work and someone (including you) has a better idea, I'm fine with that.

What I really think is:

1) There need to be at least six types, and

2) If LL's are limited in impact, that beyond the first two they don't really matter, those points should temporarily count toward something else (my idea is socializer, which could also be bought directly; but if not that, then something).

I agree - I don't think socializer should be a category, but I think Lockeroom leaders below the main one should get more benefit from the lockerroom leader

Okay. It's fine if you ditch Socializer, but please come up with something else to take its place as a sixth category (or maybe someone else besides you and me can).

I'm thinking on it

I really like this idea in principle. Contrary to popular opinion, I think Lockerroom Leader will be the least popular attribute among the masses because their benefits (as you describe them) benefit the team and not the player. One slight reservation I have is it gives yet another advantage to players who own a team and also lots of players who play for that team as they can coordinate their personality types far better.

Here's another slightly different take on how it should be implimented. What about instead of 3 independant stats, there are two. The first is 'Personality' and the second is 'Leadership'. Both would be rated from 0-10, but the ends (0 and 10) represent different extremes. A high Leadership score would be your 'Lockerroom Leader' while a low Leadership score would be your 'Workout Warrior'. A high Personality would be your 'Celebrity' while a low Personality would be a 'Professional' (or something). You could mold these two stats as you see fit, so you could be a Leader/Celebrity or a Warrior/Professional or a Leader/Professional, but you couldn't be a Leader/Warrior or a Celebrity/Professional. Alternatively you could leave one or both stats balanced (4-6 out of 10) for a more balanced personality in that area.

It could be viewed on the player screen as a 'personality grid' which will look horrible in ASCII, but I'm going to try anyway.

...............................Lockerroom Leader.......................
............................------------------------------........................
............................|.......................................|........................
............................|.......................................|........................
..Professional..|.......................................|...Celebrity............
............................|.......................................|........................
............................|.......................................|........................
............................|......................X..............|........................
............................------------------------------........................
...............................Workout Warrior.........................

The player above would have a strong lean towards the Workout Warrior rather than Locker Room Leader trait and a slight lean towards Celebrity rather than Professional, but any position on the grid should be possible either through answering questions (as you suggest) or moving the stats directly.

Hmm okay, that diagram didn't work. I'll work on it.

(Edit: Fixed - I think)

Just a bump for the youngins'

I think with more and more people building players almost exactly the same, this concept is moving from a "luxury" feature to a needed one in order to add more variation in the game.

Agreed, you always make the best and well thought out suggestions around here. I never got to tell ya that before.

Thanks. Unfortunately, many of them are longer term suggestions as the game has more pressing issues, but somebody has to keep an eye on the big picture...

Yeah it seems so. A lot of work goes into these 'out of the way' suggestions that can be very real. I have a feeling season 5 or 6ish things like this will become the project to work on and look forward to in the next season. (such as the AI now)

I do like your idea, but it seems that it would take a lot of coding work and at least a few weeks to put it all together seamlessly as a code. Keep at it because you make the 'small things' big and important and USEFUL. Once we get past developing the GAME we can develop the PLAYERS GAME. This will eventually be big, very VERY big.

The biggest problem with these ideas is that most people will go for Leader or Fame right away, and workout warrior will get ignored.

I know I've posted this, but it would be nice to implement it here as well - too many leaders/fame players and the team goes down hill since there won't be that much chemistry between players. I used to play on a basketball team for intramural where two guys kept on telling others to pass them the ball so they could score, and they got really angry when they didn't get the ball all the time. The team fell apart after 2 games in a 10 game season.

I would go workout warrior for my DE and let his stats do all the talking

I still think one of my favs that I remember from GG (and I'm sure drifter was in on it at some point) were more options for SA's...choosing 10 from a list of 100+ for your player to add to diversification.

You could still keep a similar system intact: 4 minor abilities that have smaller effects than the final major ability. You would choose four abilities from a bigger minor list and 1 ability from a big major list.

I think that would really cut down on the cookies and allow for a variety of different types of players.

I think that there would be a section on your player page.

I still love this basic idea, as I did when Drifter first suggested it; although I think there need to be more than the three types that Drifter began with, and even more than the five if one takes my two additions.

Interesting idea, although, if used, I'd have Professional at the opposite end from Lockerroom Leader, making Celebrity at the opposite end from Workout Warrior.

To The Professional, playing football is just a job, more or less; and while he might work out a lot to be good at his job, or might do endorsements and become known, he'd never be the guy rallying the team (as I view him).
