When it looked like Texas was going to jump to the Pac 10, the lege gets involved and tries to make Texas take aggy, Texas Tech and Baylor with it. The Pac 10 says, "When Hell freezes over." Texas doesn't want to get caught in the middle, so spearheads the effort to keep the Big XII-II together. It didn't have anything to do with LHN. Pac 10/12 commish has publicly stated that Pac 10 would have been happy to work with Texas if it meant getting Texas into Pac 10.

The sips weren't going anywhere by themselves, they were hamstrung by Baylor and Tech. Destroying the conference likely meant 1 or both going to non-AQ conferences. They wouldn't be forced to take us anywhere. We have the resources, academics, fanbase, and TV sets to be welcome in a litany of conferences. Also, I never said this had anything to do with the LHN at this point. I said we balked at joining the hippie conference and if we were leaving we would go where we are a better fit, the SEC.

Colorado and Nebraska pay big bucks to leave the Big XII-II. Texas and OU decline their portion of the funds and agree that the other schools can have it because they probably need it more. aggy jumps in line, demands a bigger portion than Kansas, KSU, OSU, et al, because they bring in more dollars to the Big XII-II (lolwut). Then aggy gets in line again and demands more money.

No, we demanded to be equal players with the other top dogs in the league. If the sips and OU would have gone to across the board equal revenue sharing we would have been on board with that as well. The problem is Beebe guaranteed us $20M a season minimum, which would be funded from renegotiated TV contracts. OU and t.u. were already receiving this amount, so they didn't decline out of the goodness of their hearts, it wasn't mandated they receive it. The Big XII used the money to fund the mandate they put forward when we decided to get the Big XII another go.

aggy initially has no problem with LHN because its faggoty (not that there's anything wrong with that) administration doesn't think it will make more than $10MM-$20MM total.

The initial scope of what the LHN would be is vastly different than that they are trying to do now. Knock yourselves out if you want to show your non-revenue sports and coaches shows in one place. When it expanded to conference football games, high school content, etc. is when issues arose.

Still, aggy demands half of that money without offering to contribute any capital expenditure to building it. Half of $10MM-$20MM with no investment. Damn! Really??? Wait...they can't. The aggy athletic department had to borrow $20MM or something like that from the aggy general university budget, so they have no money to contribute to infrastructure.

Please provide a link to substantiate any of this drivel. Our AD said that we didn't want a stand-alone network because providing enough programming is problematic and he supported a conference wide network.

http://www.aggieathletics.com/ViewArticle.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=27300&ATCLID=205225202

Also, we didn't HAVE to borrow money from the general fund. It was offered as we had a lot of improvements going on and when the economy tanked donations dried up a little. Our AD has paid it back quickly and our programs bring in plenty of dough.

Anyway, Texas declines because it's fronting the capital, but offers to name it the "Lone Star Network" and give aggy 20%. aggy declines. Texas says, "Okey dokey...but don't say we never offered."

When does the doodie hit the fan? When ESPN agrees to pay Texas $300MM...and the doodie lands on aggy's face for seriously underestimating Texas's value.

Again, please cite your sources. The rest was explained above.

Embarrassed by its publicly-demonstrated pattern of business failure, aggy now bangs the pot about high school games being shown on LHN--a red herring. ESPN doesn't give an aggy about showing high school games on LHN. OU jumps on the bandwagon because the writing is on the wall. They knew Texas had a bigger, better brand...but not that much bigger and that much better. Still, it's only puffery at this point and pretty much only from Big Game Bob and some idiots at a Tulsa newspaper. OU wants to build OUN and they want Texas's help, just like with the wishbone offense 40ish years ago.

High school games are more than a red herring. so much so that the NCAA stepped in.

aggy tries to join the SEC without exiting the Big XII-II first, but doesn't know how to play the PR game. Shouldn't be a surprise considering that aggy has already shown their ass on the business side of things.

See: Butthurt sips and their Baylor puppets in my original post.

Result: SEC Board meets and the final score is SEC 12, aggy 0. Beebe, that nutless wonder, somehow manages to throw out some tortious interference junk that scares the SEC enough to put the kibosh on aggy's rebellion...for the time being.

The final score was delaying the inevitable to appease the legal aspects and avoid litigation. Otherwise, the SEC wouldn't be having a change of heart in a few weeks time. What could have changed their minds in that timeframe? Answer: NOTHING, it was going to happen all along. Speaking of "tortious interference," seems to me like all of this talk about negotiating with Pitt, Louisville, UH, etc. as replacements would wall under those same criteria...

Secondary result: aside from nut-squeezing on national TV, publicity about not having enough money to clean the bat dung from that tackle-box-looking stadium, publicity about having to borrow money for the athletic department, publicity about failing to jump on the Texas money train to the tune of at least $60MM in lost future revenue, and other failures...aggy is once again embarrassed in the national media.

Looks like we are in the SEC, pretty sure I am not hearing any talking heads snickering at that.

aggy finally gets it right and tries to remove itself from the Big XII-II before trying to court the SEC again...and will probably move to the SEC in 2012. Awesome! Best of luck to aggy and its historical 40% win percentage against SEC teams. How'd it work out for Arkansas when they left the SWC for the SEC? 58% historical win percentage against SEC turned into like 42% or something like that. But at least aggy can chant SEC! SEC! SEC! while they're losing.

Sips have an all time 20% winning percentage against BYU and Notre Dame, yet they are still courting them. Ancient history is ancient.

By the way, I hope aggy is better at negotiating settlements than they are at business evaluation and PR, because aggy is gonna have to pay $28MM to exit the Big XII-II as it stands right now. Hey, if Nebraska and Colorado could negotiate lower payouts then aggy can, too, right? Almost forgot...Nebraska and Colorado have law schools, while aggy utterly and miserably failed to buy the South Texas College of Law. Maybe that has something to do with it. No journalism program at aggy...which probably explains why they have so many issues working the media. That about cover it?

Let's make a bet. If A&M pays $28M I buy you 5000 flex points, and if they don't you do the same for me. NU ended up paying less than $10M, and A&M will pay something similar. That is, of course, if the sips don't finish blowing up the conference, in which case we likely will pay squat. Congrats on blocking moves that would improve a state university (STCL). Lastly, as a graduate of the now-defunct Journalism department I finally found one part of your rebuttal I agree with, we do need more Aggie journalists out there.

So who checkmated whom?

1. Texas gets to move to a different league without the baggage of aggy, Texas Tech or Baylor since aggy imploded the Big XII-II.

A&M gets to leave to the premiere football conference without the baggage of sips, Texas Tech, or Baylor.

2. Texas lege announces it won't make Texas play aggy despite Governor Milkman's private attempts to drum up support.

The legislature shouldn't have to force you to play us you bunch of pussies

3. Texas gets $300MM from ESPN instead of sharing with aggy.

Y'all already make the most money. Shouldn't that mean you have the better AD?...
http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/nacda/sports/directorscup/auto_pdf/2010-11/misc_non_event/finald12011.pdf

4. aggy must pay $28MM, part of it to Texas lol, for the the dubious honor of getting an SEC train run on them, unless the Big XII-II officially dissolves before then and aggy is lucky enough to not have to scrape up money it doesn't have.

Again, we aren't paying $28M. Stop being a retard.

TLDR: This is what you're getting, SEC. Hope the extra win every year is worth it.

Once again, an arrogant sip blowhard gets brutalized by facts.

I'm not going through that entire post, but I love how much aggys complain about the HS games that never occured on LHN and have absolutely no issue with a 7 on 7 football tournament being held in College Station.

Reading it again, I think you are right. KoB, Aggie Bonfire jokes are one of the most offensive things on this planet to me. Why? Look at my username. RayRay = my name. 99 = the year I graduated A&M. I built Bonfires. I was on campus when Bonfire fell. To make light of it is at best a dick move. Why not ROFL at the Virginia Tech shootings? Why not wipe the tears of laughter from the kids who jumped off of the clock tower in Austin? When you drive by an accident where someone got plowed by an 18 wheeler to do you cause another accident from uncontrollable giddiness?

12 kids DIED in the Bonfire accident. Make fun of nut squeezing or us being a "cult" all you want, but don't mock the deaths of these Aggies. I was there, I assure you there was nothing funny about it.

Keep telling yourself that story, bro. You idiots would rather piss down your own legs and tell yourselves it's rain than face facts. aggy got owned by Texas financially and in the media, then aggy got owned by its own damn self financially and in the media. Ultimately it might work it out for ya, but in the meantime, damn does aggy look stupid.

Which was appreciated. Lots of horns showed a lot of class about it and still do. Others, well, not so much...
