Alternatively, have the unrestricted opt out extend until D41, leaving no "locked in" period up until the auto-contract/sign.

bolded, ldo.

For a counter or something more to add, can we maybe have a new potential FA market tab which states players that will be going the FA route.. Kinda like a pre FA market so we can see who might be available and fit our needs..

Should be beneficial for both parties. Should cut down on recruiting time as a Owner and cut down on the contracts sent from teams for the player. This will work for the responsible agents and Owner or I should say those that know their direction for the upcoming season. If you are wishy washy as far as what team you want to go to then dont sign the Intent. Agent still has until day 32 to change mind, in GLB thats a lifetime, lol. This allows the Owner the opportunity to still find a player if the player bugs out on or before day 32. I would also add that responsible/respectable Owners would allow a player out of the "locked in period" If/when done properly.

Some needed specifics:
- Offering a 'letter of intent' could mimic that of a contract offer. It'd just need a season listed to it.
- Players committed to a specific team should be automatically signed to said team on D41. (This would be great as an Owner and agent who has many players.)
- Team sales should give a committed player an alert, with the option to instantly opt out. (I would even add if a Team requested Demotion player gets alert so this doesn't come as a surprise)per tragula-just think of a user committing a dot to a pro team that is doing very well. Then at day 40 suddenly he find himself in a team with empty roster (opps, the owner forgot to tell that they are replacing the roster since all the got dot go to their twin team).
- A player's 'letter of intent' should be shown on their profile page. (and no contracts can be sent to player from other teams, I find even if you post on players notes for public to see that he is not for hire you still get 20 plus contracts sent)
- A build view option (depending on the agent's preference to share or not) would be nice for team owners/OCs/DCs w/ committed player builds.
- Players could have the ability to retract up until D32 of the prior season they are signing (aka if you are committed for S20 you would need to retract by S19D32), with the ability to opt out until D41 w/ owner approval. Alternatively, have the opt out extend until D41, leaving no "locked in" period up until the auto-contract/sign.

I super agree with this part. The LOI should mean something, if you can get other offers during it then there's no point to it. I might as well keep PMs as LOIs instead. I hate it when players say they'll go to your team, then just join another team out of the blue. I want the LOI to solve this problem.

If this isn't binding, all you are going to see are tons of both agents and owners complaining about how they got screwed over by a broken committment.

Like it... many times, either agent or team owner forgets who is committed or who he has committed a player to....this would make it much easier to track who/where a player is going.....

Im in favor.

I think most long-term owners start recruitment long before the current season is complete. We start with finding out how many of our current players are interested in returning. We send extensions to those we want to have on our team the following season(s) and evaluate needs.

Then I go look for good builds on 'bad' teams, and try and talk to their agent about next season. I am hoping for a verbal commitment, and I count on that somewhat. When it is actually time to send contracts to FA's, most (I hope all) of my needs have been met by a verbal commitment.

On the other hand, I have given such a verbal and then had the team owner sign a different QB instead. So if implemented, I'd hope the LOI was dual-binding.
