Does First Step make any sense as a SA for an all around high level SS?

SS can use a ton of pieces effectively, depending on the build.

Make tackle X1 or x2
Super Vision
Change Direction
Avoid Fake
Deflect Ball x1 or x2
Intercept
Jackhammer
Zone Focus
First Step
Monster Hit
Force Fumble


There are viable WL builds that can use any of these to good effect. But just tossing any single one of them on a build is not a great idea...except for Make tackle. Need one of those (or two) for certain.


The critical thing is to have a coherent idea of what your dot should be good at doing.

I have a fast, man specialist SS, and I'm planning on Make Tackle %, and Deflect Ball % for sure... but what else? I figure I'm choosing 2 from Change Direction, Shutdown Coverage, First Step and Superior Vision. Which 2 make sense? Or should I ditch the deflect ball to get 3 of them?

Random question also... if I already have Shutdown Coverage as my bonus SA, is it worthwhile to spend the 30 BT's and SP's to get first step and bring it to 4 or 6? If SP's are tight, is FS worth replacing SDC with as a man specialist SS?

Seen it but everyone is using some combination of:

(ZP/HH)Make Tackle
(ZP)Superior Vision
(ZP/HH)Force Fumble
(ZP)Deflect Ball
(ZP)Intercept Chance
(ZP)Change Direction
(HH)Big Hit
(HH)Monster Hit

Those are traditionally what people will use on their dots.

It fires quite often, but he also has 6 in Head Hunter. Hasn't really translated into much for the fumble dept though.
Only 3 WL fumbles in 2 seasons (although only one in plateau so far).

I feel like MH fires pretty often. My lvl 48 SS only has 6 in it with no head hunter and it fires enough for me to notice and be happy with.

Curious on thoughts on first step too. Do people see a good jump in speed, or are SSs moving too much to be considered starting from a stop?

I've always wondered how much of an effect monster hit has when it fires.
I notice it firing a lot, but I don't really notice it doing much to make me feel happy with it.

Morale decrease is not even noticeable when i can see both teams bars, and it rarely forces fumbles, not much more of a rate than non MH's... sometimes I feel like just skipping it entirely on my hard hitters... still debating that right now. Once my older hard hitters mature some more I'll do a test to see what the rate is of MH's to fumbles is compared to regular tackles to fumbles.

Anyone new opinions on MH? I'm looking at MH, FF, MT, and DB. Is that spreading myself too thin? Should I double up on something?

not necessarily true, but people might consider MT% and Wrap Up Tackle now
