If you're doing defensive AI.... ball position.

If you want to say "use this anywhere except for red zone defense", that would be between "Opponent Goal" to "My 20" right ?

yes thats right

If I have two inputs - for goal line D, one is from own goal and own 5, another is from own 5 and own 10....if the ball is on the 5, which input does it go to?

Now you might say to do the first to end on 5 and the other to start at 6, but if you look at the play-by-play's sometimes it says the ball is on th x.5, so there would be no input for the ball being on the 5.5 yard mark.

Whichever it encounters first as it reads down the list. So choose the one you want to run when the ball is on the 5 and list it higher than the other.

this is bullshit. can i get one DC that isnt gonna shift his LBs to the strong side to stop the run right? NOOOOO!!!! roll em out at the same time with the ability to choose to run left or right or dont release it until both are ready. bullshit, dude.

How does the blitz percentage chance work in these situations?

I choose max blitz of 1 and assign percentage blitz chances to several players. Does it check each one until it gets a hit then stop? If so, in what order does it check? I would think that is checks in the order the players are listed, but it might also check from greatest to least.

I think it works like this ... if, for example, you list four players as possible blitzers, it'll just look at those four and "roll" to see which one blitzes. The ones with a higher percentage stand a better chance to have their name called more often.

I wish we had an answer to this. Seems pretty important to me. Jose's way was my first logical thought, but who knows.

Both teams have an offense and both teams have a defense. It's perfectly fair. Figure out how to attack the weakside with a passing attack if you're worried about the shift.

maybe I missed this question/answer earlier, but is there a way to use a 4-3 base and then on certain occassions when we call for a 3-4 scheme to use one of my DEs as a pass rushing OLB, ala Jason Taylor? I don't see how to force him into the depth chart without taking some DE snaps away from him...

Thx in advance

Dear Bort and Other Officials,

As evident by the following post; people are completely confused about how the blitzing works in the new Defense AI. These things should be transparent to the user PRIOR to the rollout of the feature.

http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=689786

I shouldn't have to use a couple of "Pre-Season" games figuring out how you coded the game. I should be using those games to figure out what defense works well for my team.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give us some solid information on how this is supposed to work. All I want to know is how to make my guys blitz appropriately.

Thanks!

2 questions:

Under the new AI, when creating a new output, there is the following field:

Defense Shell (no goal line)

While this is clearly used to determine Cover 0, 1, 2, etc for other formations, am I to read into the "no goal line" comment that I do not have the option of choosing those same options for goal line defense? If that is the case, can someone please explain how the goal line D will actually be implemented?

Also, in setting up a defense for a 2-minute drill, will the offenses have the ability to run no-huddle and prevent substitutions? Or will my defense have the opportunity to switch personnel from one play to another?

Thanks in advance!

This might be extremely stupid, but how do you FG block?

Pretty sure all special teams plays will be automatic.

New question though: If I want to put my Nickel Defense formation on the field for the Single Back set, will my 3rd CB automatically go to cover the TE that's split to the right, or will he stay on the left since he replaced the LOLB? Same question goes for 3 WR sets where the third receiver is on the offense's left, or D's right.

Maybe allready posted but....

If the defensive ai can't find a match for the oppoents offensive line, will it then take a random one og act as it did in season 1 - 3 by itself. We have put several sets in the defensive ai and each set is designed for different kind of offensive plays from the opponent but I am a bit worried if my opponent call a play I don't have a setup for.

In the offensive ai you can order the ai to follow your settings 100% this is not possible in the defensive ai.

Therefore could the defensive ai skip my sets if it can't recognize my opponents play and use basic settings which could cause a move from 3-4 to 4-3 or will the ai just pick a random set from my playbook even though it doesnøt fit the offensive call?

Coverage distance determines how far back the over the top zones will fall back. Short is hardly at all, and long is like 7-10 yds. No matter what you set it to though, they will always play over the top and try to keep up with the deep guys in their zones.

Just posting it here because it's something that needed clarification.

When the 3-4 goes to Nickel or Dime, why does it take out the OLBs to put in the CBs?

It should take out the ILBs and NT to sub the CBs.

This is a mistake and not how 3-4 teams make the transition to passing situations.

The best pass-rushers on 3-4 teams are the OLBs, and they usually stay in on the nickel situations. It is the ILBs and NTs who are the run-stuffers and get taken out.

The OLBs stay on the field and rush the passer in Nickel and Dime. Most 3-4 teams run a 4-man front in nickel and dime situations. Their OLBs play DE, and their DEs slide down to the DT position. Like this:

Nickel 3-3-5

DE--NT--DE--ROLB
----LOLB--ILB

Dime 2-3-6

LOLB--DE--DE--ROLB
-------ILB

I don't want my run-stuffers to stay on the field in nickel situations, and they are the ILBs and NT.

From a thread in the Bugs forum on the blitzing topic.

This is the exact question I've been trying to figure out Rob. Does the sim check each position in order until it fills the maximum 1 slot? That would mean the same guy would blitz every time in that scenario. Haven't been able to find an answer to this.

Posted by Bort:
It will choose randomly between the two. It "shuffles" the list of guys every time it goes through them to check for blitzers.
