Not a terrible idea tbh. I'll try and remember to ask Bort what he thinks about it, especially since we have Returner archetypes now and the extra SA where players can choose RS.

I was under the impression, and told by you, that there would be absolutely no changing of current trees.

That's correct. Probably still not going to happen tbh (I doubt Bort wants to do it), but of all the trees that would be the one I would at least consider.

I see. Make sense, but I don't see "Zone Focus" being a "Speedster" ability. Then again, I don't really see return specialist being one either, unless RS worked for INT and Fumble returns.

Which it should.

I don't really see Zone Focus being a Speedster ability either, we could probably rename the actual name of the tree as all the other SA's can have value in a Zone type of build (especially Change Direction and Closing Speed).

My post was in reference to RS working on INTs and Fumbles.

"all General SA's"

in the exclusion list... what does that mean?

It means you can't chose Field General on non-QBs, O-line General on non-Cs, D-line general on non-DTs, and Defense General on non-LBs.

I know. I think it should work for those type of returns, too.

But then you'll screw CB returners.

RS exists to make CB returners relevant - without RS, nobody would make a CB returner, as they have 1 SA useful to returning (CD). With archetypes, yes, there is the Extra SA. HB/WR returners already have a bunch of useful ones (QC, Fakes, Spin), and can chose RS. CB returners would have...2 total SAs, CD and (RS/HF/Juke/Spin).

Good point but not completely true with AEQ. Like I said above, probably not happening, but worth at least considering. One of the things I know we talked about was actually creating two new positions (STOP and Returner) - so that might be something we do if we do that.

I'd be game for the completely new positions (100 flex), but if that was the case, what would the trees look like?

STOP:
Return Unit: Full of Blocking SAs useful for this?
Defensive Unit: Big Hit, Monster Hit, Shed Block, etc.?

Returner: One tree - Quick Cut/Change Direction, Head Fake, Juke, Spin, Return Specialist

Yeah, very good idea from longhorn, but won´t happen. sets a precedent that Bort doesn´t want. LBs would figure they only need to bitch/whine enough to get theirs re-done.

Good point. Didn't really consider that.
