What should the WEPL champ game and trophy be called?


Zeta Champ -- Dublin Cup
Alpha Champ -- Mike Rogers Cup

Ideas for league champ game: Imperium Bowl, Atomium Bowl, Monarch Bowl

Ideas for league champ trophy: Da Vinci Trophy, Arc de Triomphe, Golden Beer Stein

Stockholm will never be considered good...or get a trophy

I would call it: Imperium Bowl! (it includes also Romans, the other big empire of Europe)

Champions League Trophy

I do wish to fill you in a little history... I know most of you have not been in WEPL forever, which is cool. We've never named the Championship trophy. So as you consider this, I do want to update you on the history of these type of things.

My problem is I don't remember the exact details it was so long ago. I know Dublin is still around so I'll try not to ruin this to badly. I remember Dublin was very well respected in the early days. And he had a sad something happen where he was forced to leave the game for a period of time. So since he at the time owned a team in Zeta (I believe it was Valencia Billy Goats?) in his honour we decide to name the cup after him.

Thus in Winning Zeta, you won the Dublin Cup

Mike Rogers it seems does not log on anymore. He was one of the pioneers of WEPL. Very active and involved, I think he was a moderator and a beta tester for some period. Very nice fellow and very well liked, as well as knowledgeable. (I believe he was a GM on the London Monarchs?). In any case I think in season 4 or 5 Mike Rogers had some tragedy happen to him, which I also do not remember the details of. But he was forced to take a break from the game. So in honour of this we named the Alpha Championship after him.

And thus Winning Alpha won you the Rogers Cup.

I believe there are more than owners left from that era who can add to this. Possible there is more information in the wiki? I do not know. We never did name the Championship game though. But I do get the feeling that naming this is not the kind of thing you can force, it just has to be a community decision.

The Woodridge Lumberjacks have won the Trophy the most times with 2 and they were a perennial powerhouse in the early years.

I like the sound of keeping the Dublin Cup and Rogers Cup.
I remember Team Perkis first season in WEPL was one of the last times that Mike Rogers was around, so I remember when that was going on. I can't say much about it though, because I wasn't here originally.

I think Zickzack and the E-City Mercenaries have been here since the start of WEPL.

What about the

Atomium Bowl

The Atomium is emblem of Brussels which is more or less the capitol of the European Union. It would also look nice as trophy:

We had that question pop up several times, and the Mike Rogers suggestion that rtconner mentioned has usually found some very favorable response, but nothing came ever out of any of those proposals to name the tophies.

Not only was Mike one of the early mainstays in WEPL, he also was/is an overall good guy, and was one of the early testers and heavily involved in some of the improvements that were made to GLB. I still think it would be more than appropriate to name the Alpha if not even the league trophy after him.
