Sure, it'll be small (obviously 32 max ) but would anyone be interested in an early season Gold team only tournament? 16 teams would be ideal (unless miraculously everyone jumps on board) and I'd do my best to set up first round cross-conference opponents. In fact I would take the first 8 from each side that sign up to guarantee that happens for everyone unless of course we get 10 from one side and only 6 from another.

However, the interest has to be there of course.

So, anyone game?

The rest of the DSBM can speak for themselves, but IMO, I'll see enough of you bastards during the season and hopefully the playoffs. I don't need the torture of playing any of you in a tournament too. It would be fun -- but torture.

I am hosting a gold vs silver challenge. We have room for two more gold teams.

I think I'll take a break from scrimming this season... I'm going to open up my team for challanges, but I think I'm going to stay out of the tourneys.

So what you are saying is that we should (all references to PW10 replace with Gold, this is an old thread):

"My idea is that based on the results of the regular season, we will face off the top and 8th seed within the East and the West. We will have a single elimination tournament until only one team remains from each division. These teams will be declared the winner of their respective conferences, but in a twist will then face each other for Pee Wee League 10 championship.

Games will be automatically scheduled and will cost zero flex. Participants will be automatically entered into this tournament. The winners (and their GMs) will get trophies on their agent page and the players from those teams will receive similar trophies indicating their involvement on their awards page.

If this idea catches on, Bort will run a script to load this tournament format for all divisions of Pee Wee, and all other leagues right up to the Pros. He may even run a script to back date this tournament format to previous seasons, but that seems unlikely.

What does everyone think?"

Thing is most of us jump into the 124 tourney or one of the other tournies as well and 95% of the time the Gold teams just end up knocking each other out. This saves you the 3 scrims and 75 flex points it'll cost you to wallop some shitty team 141-0.

I think you should get off of Leagues 10's cock, because it doesn't exist anymore.

LE, 10 might be gone but the memories still persist and considering the current state of Silver leagues it is a fond memory indeed and perhaps TT is in the same boat. I imagine after a season in Gold we'll both be in a different state of mind though.

We the Lone Star Mercs dont usually do tournies. Either Lone Star (the OC) or I (the DC) or usually both are to busy to game plan for them. The fun for us in GLB is when your next opponent is a really great team like DoRD, He Hate Me, Atlanta Apocalypse etc. etc. and watch their games for a couple hours taking notes and seeing how they work their offence and defence and learning exactly how clever they are in all the little things they do and then going, "Fucking hell! Theres no way I can stop those godamn halfbacks and look at how those dots move around over there, christ is that linebacker on blitz or is that a zone he set him one millimeter away from so he reads the offense 1/10th of a second after the play starts."
Then you start to figure out how maybe you can slow it up a bit and then you adjust your offence and defence and cross your fingers. Then all day at work you wonder what the hell happened and worry that if the other team could average 4 yards a carry instead of 3.5 they'll run all over you and you'll not just lose but maybe get an embarrassing ass kicking. Thats when this game gets fun for us. With wives and kids we just dont have the time or energy to do that in all our regularly scheduled games let alone any extra ones. If we do scrimmages we usually do it with friends under controlled environments, for example, agree to only do running plays or ask them to only do QB sweeps in the first half so we can test a bunch of defensive plays against them. My advice is to save your energy and your strategy for the regular season and you might have a better chance of having a really great season.
I'd like to thank the coordinators of Atlanta, DoRD, Short Bus and the goat warriors, we havent even played all of you but I've sure learned a lot while enjoying watching your dots move around on virtual grass.
