to make a complete playoff team power ranking?
I know the owners/GMs will be super busy with planning or I would make an attempt at it myself, although I will admit I am not a number cruncher other than stats absorption.

I might try and whip something up. Eh. My main problem is my utter lack of knowledge of anything in Zeta.

what do you mean "playoff team power ranking"? do you mean the same ol power rankings just minus the bottom 16 teams?

exactly, but not just a top 10.

I don't mean the elo rankings, but power rankings.

I could toss one together for Alpha conference, but I don't know crap about zeta.

Here's a quick thing that I've whipped up, but I'll be the first to admit that I haven't put a whole lot of thought into it.

Alpha Conference:

1. Brisbane Bandits: Hard to argue with this one. We were the only team that beat them, but I'll be the first to admit that, in a rematch, we would be the underdogs.
2. Newcastle Bearcats: Only team in the Alpha conference to beat the Burning Pride. DMP allows them to dictate the tempo of pretty much any game.
3. New England Burning Pride: Only team to beat the Bandits. We have an extremely balanced attack, and a lockdown D. We did give up 34 points to the Crimson Auha, but that had was more the result of our 6 turnovers than any shortcoming by the defense.
4. Canberra Strike: I don't like putting them down at 4, especially since they beat Newcastle. Another exceptionally balanced team, and we only beat them because we forced some key turnovers. They can be rushed on, though (though they shut down our running game, I think they overloaded to do so. Not sure though)
5. Emerald City Flying Monkeys: Only lost to the four teams above them, and pretty thoroughly dominated a lot of the teams below them. No denying that this is a good team, and I'm very worried to be playing them. They probably have the best DL in the conference.
6. Fiji Sea Turtles: I would have put them at 5, but Emerald City beat them. Don't expect to score on these guys. Even if their player levels don't reflect it, they're going to give you fits.
7. Carabao Buffalos: Their 3 level 20s are going to present matchup problems for whoever they face, including the Bandits (though I doubt that they'll win). All in all, though, I'm surprised that they didn't finish with a better record, with the talent that they have.
8. Auckland Flames: Their DL is too weak for me to rank them above Carabao, even if they did finish ahead in the standings. They're definitely a quality team, though, even though there's no way that I foresee them making it out of the first round. After a pair of 62-0 blowouts, too, their offense might have some energy issues.

Zeta Conference

1. Brisbane Gods: Defending champs, 3-0 against teams with same record. 2 game losing streak to end the season is a downer.
2. U Canes: Haven't lost a game by more than 3 points. Arguably one of the best defenses in the league.
3. Tongan Crimson Auha: Maybe the strongest offense in the league. Defense has had some off-games in the past.
4. Rawle Tech Titans: Only losses are to 3 of the top 5 teams in Zeta.
5. Vincennes Vampires: 3-3 vs. playoff teams, gave Gods their biggest loss of the season.
6. Nauru Tiger Sharks: Sleeper team beats who they are supposed to, but are not so great against top tier. On a 6-game win streak including a victory over the Gods.
7. Las Vegas Outlaws: Had a rough start to the season, but they are now on a 6-game win streak (2 playoff teams) and looking to surprise everyone.
8. IC Incinerators: Upset central right here. They are capable of beating some of the top teams, but have had trouble against some above and below them.

Thanks for the effort guys, it kinda helps seeing others' viewpoints on the way the teams pan out.

While planning for the upcoming Gods game, I was shocked at how their depth has grown (Thor's Hammer is a good example). It is gonna be even more of a bitch planning this game than for all of the other top teams we have played thus far. There just aren't that many chinks for a weaker team such as mine to exploit, but rest assured I will find one or two here and there.
Good thing my initial thoughts about my team were like Bill Parcells.... the 3 year plan, lol.

If you're on the three year Parcell's plan, I must be on the 8 year Van Wilder plan....

I really think that over the last 6 weeks, the teams (talking about Zeta here) in the middle of the pack really closed the gap on the top teams. It's a lot closer from 1 to 8 now than it was at mid way through the season. Which should make for a fun playoff.

Good job. The Zeta abstracts were spot on.

There isn't much of a system to these, especially because I'm not very familiar with the lower seeded Alpha teams, so if you feel you're low here, don't take it as an insult. Mostly its based on record and performance against quality teams.

1. Brisbane Bandits
2. Newcastle Bearcats
3. New England Burning Pride
4. Canberra Strike
5. Brisbane Gods
6. The U Canes
7. Tongan Crimson Auha
8. Emerald City Flying Monkeys
9. Rawle Tech Titans
10. Vincennes Vampires
11. Nauru Tiger Sharks
12. Fiji Sea Turtles
13. Las Vegas Outlaws
14. IC Incinerators
15. Aukland Flames
16. Carabao Buffalos
