Here's a quick thing that I've whipped up, but I'll be the first to admit that I haven't put a whole lot of thought into it.
Alpha Conference:
1. Brisbane Bandits: Hard to argue with this one. We were the only team that beat them, but I'll be the first to admit that, in a rematch, we would be the underdogs.
2. Newcastle Bearcats: Only team in the Alpha conference to beat the Burning Pride. DMP allows them to dictate the tempo of pretty much any game.
3. New England Burning Pride: Only team to beat the Bandits. We have an extremely balanced attack, and a lockdown D. We did give up 34 points to the Crimson Auha, but that had was more the result of our 6 turnovers than any shortcoming by the defense.
4. Canberra Strike: I don't like putting them down at 4, especially since they beat Newcastle. Another exceptionally balanced team, and we only beat them because we forced some key turnovers. They can be rushed on, though (though they shut down our running game, I think they overloaded to do so. Not sure though)
5. Emerald City Flying Monkeys: Only lost to the four teams above them, and pretty thoroughly dominated a lot of the teams below them. No denying that this is a good team, and I'm very worried to be playing them. They probably have the best DL in the conference.
6. Fiji Sea Turtles: I would have put them at 5, but Emerald City beat them. Don't expect to score on these guys. Even if their player levels don't reflect it, they're going to give you fits.
7. Carabao Buffalos: Their 3 level 20s are going to present matchup problems for whoever they face, including the Bandits (though I doubt that they'll win). All in all, though, I'm surprised that they didn't finish with a better record, with the talent that they have.
8. Auckland Flames: Their DL is too weak for me to rank them above Carabao, even if they did finish ahead in the standings. They're definitely a quality team, though, even though there's no way that I foresee them making it out of the first round. After a pair of 62-0 blowouts, too, their offense might have some energy issues.
