Basically what that means is if you left on GLB Day 20, and returned when it was GLB Day 36 you'd have to wait another 6 weeks with every player you have that weren't FA's when you left - since none of your players could come out of stasis until Day 21. Any other way either means you'd either take a penalty to your player or get an unfair advantage with training/XP.

This idea means well, but has the potential to be a bigger headache than it's worth for both Bort and co. and the annoyed agents who realize they can't do anything for up to as much as 2 months (seasons are 57 days long or more depending on length of offseason) even after they return.

Then, those quickly returning agents don't freeze anything.

I do not believe so. I believe the OP is to suggest a complete stasis status. Your dots would not gain XP, VP, or even days of age. Complete stasis. When you return and re-instate yourself into GLB properly, your dots would pick up wherever they were when you left. FA's, to be sure, but no gains or exploitations. This "Freeze the account" is about things like people getting hospitalized for extended periods of time... or soldiers being deployed for 6 months ( many Guard units have 2 week or longer absenses mandated by training... and don't forget the 8 weeks of basic training for any recruit of any service.)... deaths in the family. Basically situations where someone who loves GLB enough to come back after leaving for whatever reasons, especially those who find themselves forced into such absenses due to circumstances beyond their control, would now have a way back into the game without having to give up what they've done so far and without losing what they've invested. This is an awesome suggestion as it hurts nothing and no one, but helps players in a time of need.

I understand the concept, and why people are asking for it - I spent 15 years in the military.

The problem with freezing the account is you can't just unfreeze it whenever you want - players are in development which means they are tied to the very day they were frozen, how much training and how many games they played in that season - and how many games should be remaining in that season when they start back up.

Unfreezing an account on Day 10 that was frozen on Day 20 would mean a player would have to play 5 more games than he otherwise would before he could start his normal offseason regimen. (the 10 games he played before he was frozen and the 11 games he plays when he's unfrozen. Thats 21 games before offseason training.

Unfreezing that same account on Day 41 means the player gets 16 days of additional training that he would otherwise not get in a career.

The only way to do this right is to only allow unfreezing the player on the day he would have otherwise resumed his career in the season he returns. I.e. if he froze on day 10, he returns on day 31, he has to wait till day 11 of the following season to resume his players career.

The idea is that from time to time agents who are loyal and active may fall under times of financial or medical hardship. Under the current system, their dots continue to age even if the agent takes a leave of absence for personal reasons unrelated to GLB.

Providing a "freeze" or a "hold" option for the agent's account, much like other websites do, would more or less allow the agent to pick up where he left off after first re-activating the account.

1) Ownership of teams would be forfeited (unless tied in with Dahman's suggestion of retiring teams).

2) To avoid disrupting teams in mid-season, the agent's players would be allowed to finish the season, accumulating ALGs, VA Pts, and level ups while also retaining unused boosts. The dots would enter stasis on day 41.

3) The agent will be unable to participate in any GLB activity, except to contact Admin and Support, until the freeze is removed by the agent.

4) GLB may assign a maximum duration of the freeze before forfeiture of all dots. Dahman's suggestion of 2 seasons for his retiring teams concept seems reasonable here as well, especially given some medical circumstances. This time limit would begin on day 41 when the dot enters stasis, if the freeze is enacted during the season.

5) Anyone found to be using the freeze option as an exploit - including multiple user ids or otherwise violating the TOS - may be permanently banned from the website.

6) Teams the agent's dots are under contract with will receive notification that the agent has invoked the freeze option. If the team releases the player(s), the affected dot(s) will enter stasis immediately. Otherwise, notification will allow teams to modify depth charts as the dot slowly falls behind others at his position. It is at the owner's discretion how to handle the situation, but he deserves to be notified of the change when it happens.

From my perspective, this would help retain the customer base, while also preserving the interest of new agents who experience an unexpected hardship. This is because they will not necessarily have to begin anew after a leave of absence. Rather than losing their investment in flex, or having to retire, these agents can continue with their builds. There may lose a little bit in the build due to ALGs and unspent SP, but otherwise the build will remain intact enough to allow them to continue competing at the appropriate level.

I suspect this would boost customer loyalty, especially from younger agents who may be students, just starting a family, or even just trying to make ends meet as the embark on establishing a career. It would also benefit agents who experience layoffs, work injuries, or other unforeseen circumstances.

By simply making it a "button" option on the agent's home screen, the freeze could be activated by phone, pad, tablet, or computer.

Lastly, for those who may wonder, I actually thought of this last night, mentioning the idea in a PM to one of my agents. Dahman's suggestion only reminded me that I needed to put it forth for consideration.

I don't see why not, there wouldn't be any unfair advantages for doing so. Slight loss for the right to continue where your left off. I'd venture to say it should be more than 2 seasons however, what about military deployment?

If that can be hashed out, +1 to fossilization

I suppose Admin be could be contacted for an extension under the right circumstances. In cases like military deployment, Admin could be contacted prior to the freeze and told the length of deployment. Even while deployed, many troops do have occasional internet access, so if deployment is extended, there is still an avenue of communication to request extension of the freeze.

Having had to deal with a death in my family a few seasons ago, I was computerless (and with no desire to have one at that time, really) for several weeks. I had to recycle all dots and inform friends in GLB I'd be gone for that season. This would've been nice. But understand that, if you're dots are linked to a team and you go "inactive" for a season, the team moves on without you... and your dots... leaving you behind when you get back. That's not an "end of the suggestion" thing... just saying it would exist. Still, it's a good idea.
