We killed the team above us last week too. Its done by computer I believe, so it's not going to be perfect.

Yeah, I know, but Raluen is one of my GMs; I expected some biased results here.

so, uh, who do we need to stomp to get to #1 here? i don't really understand the numbers.

i can figure out offense.... pensacola is 2nd in rushing yards per attempt, which apparently makes us #2 in rushing. but what about the defense numbers ? standings have us at 3rd best in passing yards allowed - says 19 there.

Sorry, but you really haven't beat a legit team yet. Imo, Crib Midgets should be #1 because they have beaten the other 2 top teams in the East.

very true, but numbers are still numbers.

i guess a few questions might be answered soon when the crib midgets and pensacola face off.

I don't really like how it handles defensive rankings either. I haven't had the time to look through and see how it gets those ranks, but they do seem off. I'm tempted to try v 1.0. I'm curious how that would turn out. I may mess with that some and see how those turn out. But, it does spur some conversation.

the "leader" in passing was philip rivers, who lead the nfl in passer rating with 105.5 and had just as many TDs as brees and less INTs.

Yes, but according to the system used by the computer for these rankings, I think the leader would still be Brees. It's kind of a weird system, and definitely flawed, but it's the only one we've got. If you really want to start some debate, someone could do a human ranking of all the teams and then watch everyone complain about where they are placed. Or have every owner (that's active) vote on the rankings. Both would take someone a lot of effort, but they'd be interesting.

for what its worth, i didn't want to spark a debate - i just wanted to know how the rankings were done in the first place, as there wasn't any correlation to a defensive ranking based on team stats that i saw.

Basically I'm using the v .20 of the spreadsheet found on glbwiki. It's got a page where I put in who beats who each week, and then a page that corresponds to each of the "league team stats" pages. I just copy and paste each of those in, put in who wins/loses, then it spits out numbers at me. I haven't looked at how it comes up with any of them yet, but may do this next week when I have some time off because I'm curious as well about how it gets it's numbers. It seems reasonably accurate, but doesn't seem to account for strength of schedule very well.
