Update: WEEK 7!!!
Same disclaimer applies. There is no formula here, these are my own subjective rankings, but I will do my best to take wins, points, and strength of schedule into account. I am only going to rank the top 8, otherwise it will take too much of my time.
Western Conference
1) Chico's Bail Bond Bears 7-0 (0)
The store remains the same. The defending champs are 7-0 and have done nothing to compromise their spot atop Pee Wee 5. The remaining two undefeated teams battle next week in an obvious *Game of the Week*
2) Darkus Blacks 7-0 (0)
See above. Darkus Blacks finally get their shot to knock off Chico's. The good news is that both teams are far enough ahead of the crowd that the losing team will probably be #2 next week. But these teams don't really care about #2. LET'S GET IT ON!
3) Orange Flames 6-1 (+1)
The Orange Flames claim the #3 spot with an IMPRESSIVE 17-0 shutout of the previously undefeated Evil Gits. Their only loss was a 3TD loss to Chico's, which really goes to show you the gap the top two teams have put on the field.
4) Baltimore Bullets 6-1 (+1)
The Baltimore Bullets are in the midst of a run of easy games. They have won their last two by a combined total of 124-14. They get another easy one next week when the Dallas Devils come to town. Their only loss, a devastating 54 point blowout at the hands of the Darkus Blacks, continues to be the only thing holding them back.
5) The Evil Gits 6-1 (-2)
The Evil Gits were in the top 3 before surprisingly getting shut out against the Orange Flames. They still have a solid win over the CSIs on their resume, but they've got two unranked teams coming up. Their schedule doesn't set up well for climbing the rankings tbh.
6) Nigeria Cheetahs 4-3 (+3)
The Nigeria Cheetahs are ahead of the CSIs due to their head-to-head win in week 6. They are better than a 4-3 team, but unfortunately drew a very tough 1st round nonconference against Eastern #3 Detroit. They should be able to pad the stats a bit this week against the Byron Bay Blowfish.
7) Las Vegas CSIs 5-2 (-1)
This is lower than the CSIs are accustomed to falling, but they couldn't expect to get much credit for beating Byron Bay. If they beat the Orange Flames next week, they will get plenty of credit.
8) salem sundevils 4-3 (0)
New ranking, same story; salem is just barely hanging in the eight spot. They have two very winnable games against the Seattle Hitmen and Lubbock Burros coming up, which should give them a bit of breathing room.
Eastern Conference
1) Houston Headhunters 6-1 (+2)
The Houston Headhunters are CLEARLY the class of the East right now. Their only loss is a game 1 13 point defeat at the hands of the Darkus Blacks, who are currently undefeated. In their last two games they defeated then #2 Detroit by 10, and then #1 Springfield by a whopping 46 points. They get a break with the Edmonton Dragons and will rest their starters. A double-header with the Orange Slices and Piranha's is on the horizon...
2) Springfield Spider-Pigs 5-2 (-1)
The Springfield Spider-Pigs were solidly in control of the East for the first 5 games of the season, but are currently on a 2 game skid after losses to the Piranhas and Headhunters. The good news is that they're through the bulk of their schedule and should be able to cruise through the rest of the season with only two difficult games.
3) Detroit's Perfect Season 0-16 5-2 (-1)
Detroit is a difficult team to place, but with losses to #1 and #2 and wins over #4 #5 and West #6, this seems to be the most logical place. Their next game against the Sacramento VIKINGS Pee Wees could shake things up a bit.
4) Peru Piranhas 5-2 (+2)
The Piranhas had the misfortune of a first week nonconference matchup against the Baltimore Bullets, but propelled themselves up the rankings with a win over then-#1 Springfield Spider-Pigs. They get another chance to move up the rankings this week as they face the Orange Slices.
5) Littleborough Orange Slices 5-2 (+2)
The Orange Slices' next two weeks are BRUTAL! They have the Piranhas followed by the Headhunters. If they can escape with even a split they should move up the rankings. Good luck!
6) Sacramento VIKINGS Pee Wees 6-1 (-2)
The Vikings and the Window Lickers will no doubt feel shorted by these rankings, but they should blame their AD for that terrible opening schedule. In 7 games, the Vikings haven't played any of the top 5 teams in the East, and they lost to the #8 team in the West. Winning over patsies only takes you so far. Their win over Short Bus would look better if Short Bus didn't have a similarly weak schedule. They can prove themselves with wins over Detroit this week or Springfield next week. Like Littleborough, even if they split they'll be moving up.
7) Short Bus Window Lickers 6-1 (-2)
Poor Short Bus. They have played 2 ranked teams, losing to #6 Sacramento and beating #8 Washington. They didn't even draw a good Western team to play. It's not their fault their schedule sucks donkey balls, but at the same time it's hard to give them credit yet. Making things worse, they have another two patsy games before closing out with the top 5 teams in their last seven games. That's sick!
8) Washington Pride 4-3 (0)
The Pride have lost to every ranked team they have played. They have also beaten every unranked team. This is the place for them.
