Again, just for kicks. None of these rankings will be very accurate with only a few games into the season. Again, because there are fewer CPU teams there, Western Conference teams are in bold.

1. South Central Muddogs (4-0)
2. Garbage Pail Kids (4-0)
3. Pittsburgh Steel Masters (4-0)
4. Virginia Cobras CPU (2-2)
5. Kansas City Pack (3-1)
6. Bangalore Hurricane's (4-0)
7. Hartford Whalers CPU (2-2)
8. Tucson Slugs (4-0)
9. St. Catherines Baby Storm Walruses of Windsor (2-2)
10. Rhode Island PeeWee Pirates (4-0)
11. Angry Buffalos (2-1-1)
12. Omaha Blue Jays (3-1)
13. TRU PUNX!!! (3-1)
14. San Jose Spartanz (2-2)
15. Tortured Pirate Souls (3-1)
16. Montana Slashers (0-3-1)
17. Utah Dogs CPU (0-4)
18. Channel Four News Team Smelly Pirate Hookers (3-1)
19. Tecmo Super Bowlers (1-3)
20. Pee Wee Assassins (0-4)
21. Chicopee Giants (2-2)
22. Indianapolis Gasser's (2-2)
23. Orlando Sentinals CPU (3-1)
24. Colorado Springs Whales (0-4)
25. Memphis Roosters (0-4)
26. Honolulu Hitmen CPU (3-1)
27. Washington Ducks CPU (0-4)
28. New Jersey Marlins CPU (2-2)
29. D.C. Caps (0-4)
30. Megalodon Pups (0-4)
31. Houston Lizards (0-4)
32. Amish Army (1-3)

I'm not claiming these are accurate. They're just for fun. I imagine they'll change quite a bit as each team's average player level increases. I'll try to update them after every set of games.

Just one question. How do you have a cpu team in the top 5

I want to know how the Slugs fell to 8th and how St. Catherines Baby Storm Walruses of Windsor went up that much after a L.

These rankings are done with a commonly used spreadsheet that contains an algorithm based on the previous version of the spreadsheet. It doesn't predict who will win or who's better than whom. It does, however, get more accurate as data from more games becomes available and more teams have played each other for comparison's sake.

Can we get a basic explanation of what the formula is comprised of? Because I'm really interested to know how a team could move down seven places after an 80-0 win in which they rushed for nearly 500 yards.

I don't know. Garrett Foster (?) would have to explain. I do know that part of depends on your opponent's strength.

As I remember, it takes about 6-7 games before this becomes a pretty accurate predictor of who will win, and levels out.

Even then, something is weird, because 2 CPU teams with 2-2 rankings get ahead of some 4-0 teams.

Give it time though, once we have fewer 4-0s, it should start equalling out better.

Instead of cutting and pasting, I re-did the spreadsheet manually. The rankings come out the same. Because they are "power" rankings, they take into account things like points for, points against, opponent's record, strength of schedule to date, opponent's strength of schedule to date, opponent's points for, opponent's points against, etc.

As the season progresses, the rankings will tend to be more accurate (not precisely accurate, but more accurate than at the beginning of the season), because more teams will have played each other and more "comparisons" can be made.

They're power rankings, not actual rankings, and they require a larger sample size than 4 games to approach accurate.

So what I just said explains the ranking for Virginia Cobras CPU. They have two wins, plus their losses are to undefeated teams and those undefeated teams have scored a lot of points. That is part of why they are ranked so highly right now.

Waste of time

In your opinion. It's interesting for others.
