Hey guys, I'm Justin and you may have seen me around. I just acquired the Tasmania Sand Gnats and was wondering if anyone out there had any tips for turning this team around. I am a new owner obviously and already have some players hounding me to be released.... Do I have to wait until the play-offs are over to be able to make roster changes?

Anyway, thought I'd drop in and officially introduce myself, and any tips/help is appreciated.

Regards,
UCMSTEEL

good luck, it isn't easy. if you can find some good GM's, that will really help. running the team, preparing for games, recruiting, it is all really too much for one person. don't be afraid to delegate.

I wish you the best with Tasmania! Especially since it sounds like you'll be doing quite a bit of rebuilding.
Beouf's points are pretty much on target.

be careful with finances and ur stadium, dont over do it but at the same time dont neglect it, u need to find the right balance to get the right income to get the right amount of cash which means victory

They are right about the GMs. You definitely want an OC and a DC to start. It is a lot of work with the new AI and the key to winning is really game planning well. After that make sure your finances are in shape and don't be afraid to grab some under leveled guys who are well build. I am thinking guys just out of the d-leagues int eh mid teens. They will catch up faster than you realize. With most players in this league in the mid 20's even with boosting they are only looking at 5 levels a season so if you grab guys int heir teens they'll catch up faster than you think.

Also, pay close attention to your money. I kind of disagree with Chris and think stadium expansion is key, especially if you have a bunch of guys leveling and hitting 24, you'll want to be able to help them get gear so they can compete.

stadium expansions generally pay for themselves the day season tickets go on sale. the only limit here is basicly how much cash you can have on hand for the short while that you can build new stadium sections.

Thanks everyone, I have been setting up a basic AI for Offense and Defense. I think now that I have the basics I will start approaching players who may want to fill a GM role, for scouting, game planning and minor tweaks to the settings each game. I am not a finance guy at all, but have made some signings, though I wish I had paid particular attention to the post above about signing mid-level players and waiting for them to catch up. I'm afraid I have some large amounts of money tied up in contracts that will all come up again at the end of the season. I'm sitting tight on just over 1.6 million with very few spots to fill when season 5 day 1 rolls around.

Thanks and Regards,

There's going to be a new owner in Zeta in the next day or so: FPQA is now CPU-run.

Man, that's kind of surprising about all their talk about wanting to stay in AA last season. I am always stunned when seemingly active owners just suddenly disappear.

You're exactly right. They fought tooth and nail to stay in this conference last season; they never had terribly much talent, but they had heart. I hope that team remains together and remains strong in the face of this.

1 big suggestion in building a team (trust me i'm going through it right now too) Don't get discouraged. 85% of the players you inquire about, are going to tell you "not a chance" the 15% that you land, are the ppl that are going to define your team.
