Canada A#5 Playoff Predictions
I know everybody who frequents the forums has been on the edge of their seat waiting to see who i'd pick So without further ado, here's my analysis of the playoff games. I'll give the predictions for both the east and the west (East first, cause we're better...hehe) as well as an offensive and defensive breakdown for each matchup. This took alot of time to do, so you bastards better well read it all
Eastern Conference
Game: Flappin' Heads(1) vs Thunder Bay Hitmen(8)
Last meeting: Flappin def Thunder Bay 34-10
Flappin Offense vs Thunder Bay Defense: Flappin's offense is near unstoppable. However, Thunder bay did a good job last meeting in slowing down the Flappin's passing game. This just meant that the Flappin's had to move the ball on the ground, which they did well. Thunder bay has an alright defense, but do they have enough playmakers to swing it?
Flappin Defense vs Thunder Bay Offense: The Flappin's strong point on defense is their line. However, they have been proven to be vulnerable through the air. Will the revelations brought forth by eastside at the end of the regular season make a difference? Only time will tell.
Prediction: Flappin 42 Thunder Bay 20
Game: Eastside Eagles(4) vs Regina Pounders(5)
Last meeting: Eastside def Regina 34-0
Eastside Offense vs Regina Defense: Last game, East side passed their way for the win, and then ran their way into keeping it. Regina's rush defense will carry them through, but will their pass defense be enough? Lets hope they learn from last game.
Eastside Defense vs Regina Offense: I'll tell ya, if the Regina offense was a game of Blackjack, the dealer got a blindside 21 against them about 5 out of 10 hands. Putting up a fat zero on offense was a complete fluke and a bad dice roll, which isn't to discredit the eastside defense at all. Eastside has a superior passing defense, which will make it hard if Regina gets behind. If regina can jump ahead to an early lead, their chances to move the ball will be alot better.
Prediction: Eastside 27 Regina 17
Game: Triple B's 13th Cadre(2) vs St. John's Fog Devils(7)
Last meeting: Triple B's def St. John's 24-10
Triple B's Offense vs St. John's Defense: St. John's isn't known for their defense, but it was the shining star that kept them in this game last time. Did triple B's overlook St. John's, or was it something the Fog Devil's did? Triple B's should move the ball however they want, but they should have last time. Will it be different?
Triple B's Defense vs St. John's Offense: Triple B's stifling defense stopped the St. John's offense last time, giving up no points after surrendering 10 to a long touchdown and a fg on a stalled drive. Triple B's defensive line is murderous, but will St. John's be adept to run again and hit more homeruns this time? The St. John's offense is much like MLB's Ryan howard... lots of homeruns, but lots of strikeouts too.
Prediction: Triple B's 24 St. John's 20
Game: Quebec City Chiefs(3) vs Manitoba Manitees(6)
Last meeting: Quebec City def Manitoba 34-17
Quebec City Offense vs Manitoba Defense: Quebec can move the ball however they choose, although their main bread and butter is the passing game. The score from the last time they played didn't justify how close the game really wasn't.
Quebec City Defense vs Manitoba Offense: The manitoba offense looked inept last time these teams met. A long play was cause for 1 touchdown, and a meaningless 4th quarter drive on a soft defense was cause for their 2nd touchdown. Can Manitoba learn from their mistake and pull a rabbit out of the hat? It would be like pulling a horse out of their hat, for me.
Prediction: Quebec City 35 Manitoba 10
Western Conference
Game: Calgary Destroyers(1) vs Kelowna Bulls(8)
Last meeting: Calgary def Kelowna 32-3
Calgary Offense vs Kelowna Defense: Calgary passed their way up and down the field to the win in this game, as they should. Their passing game is great and Kelowna's pass defense isn't great. Its simple, really.
Calgary Defense vs Kelowna Offense: Kelowna did very little trying to pass against calgary last time. I presume that this game will at least yield some points for the bulls, probably through the ground, but definitely not nearly enough for a win.
Prediction: Calgary 31 Kelowna 13
Game: Shilo Silly Nannies(4) vs Unsavory Gentlemen(5)
Last meeting: Unsavory def Shilo 13-10
Shilo Offense vs Unsavory Defense: Last meeting, the nannies offense got hit by a brick wall. They then stopped, backed up, and ran right back into the wall. Hopefully they learn and try to attack the Gentlemen's defense in a different way that they did last time, because the Gentlemen's D looked pretty good.
Shilo Defense vs Unsavory Offense: If shilo's passing offense was hitting a wall, the UG's rushing offense was basically trying to run straight through the damn wall. They did have some success in trying to pass the ball. Superior game planning by the UG might prevail in this O vs D matchup.
Prediction: Shilo 16 Unsavory 21
Game: Niagra Nightmare(2) vs Saskatoon Sasquatch(7)
Last meeting: Niagra def Saskatoon 22-12
Niagra Offense vs Saskatoon Defense: Step 1. Run the ball Step 2. ??? Step 3. Profit!
Niagra Defense vs Saskatoon Offense: In their last matchup, whatever affinity druez has to running, the Sasquatch seemed to have for passing. It makes sense, since they were down all game, and thats their prime attack, but will they find another weakness this time around? They got close but couldn't quite finish.
Prediction: Niagra 27 Saskatoon 13
Game: Kansas City Gorillas(3) vs Chilliwack Care Bears(6)
Last meeting: Kansas City def Chilliwach 38-10
Kansas City Offense vs Chilliwack Defense: Kansas City looked pretty unstoppable last matchup, aside from their HB getting a case of the drop-sies. I doubt that will be too much of a problem, but Chilliwack's defense is nothing to sneeze at.
Kansas City Defense vs Chilliwack Offense: Kansas City's defense is very good, isn't elite. Still, in the last game, the Chilliwack offense didn't look that great to begin with that they needed an elite defense to stop them. They did manage to move the ball somewhat, which makes me think that with some tweaking, this game will be closer
Prediction: Kansas City 27 Chilliwack 20
