Has anyone ever thought the #1 Seed did it to throw the game? So they could stay in this league? It's pretty simple, they don't want to get dominated when they get promoted so they stay here.

It's possible, but my personal opinion (don't take this as an insult Wolverines) is that they weren't nearly as good as their record indicated.

They boosted their players to start the season. They recruited pretty good, so once they boosted, they were head and shoulders above everyone else with talent. As the season wore on though, their guys developed slower, so everyone else in the league caught up to them. Then, once the rest of the league boosted, now there's several teams with more talent than them.

Their schedule down the stretch of the season was pretty weak. So while they appeared to be blowing out teams, they were just beating the weaker teams in the conference, since they had already played the better teams.

Look at the Rome game mid season. They beat them 28-17. That was pre-Rome boosting, so over the next 7 weeks of the season, Rome's unboosted players gained on Wolverines boosted players (what I mean by gained is an unboosted 13 will gain about a level and a half more than a level 16 player will over the course of a season). Now, factor in Rome's players are boosted, and on paper, they look a lot better than the Wolverines and IMO, would handle them pretty easily.

Rinse and repeat my example with Monty Pythons, and you have why the Wolverines dominated league play, but the Pythons won the one that mattered.

---------

You might also say there was some lax in game planning. If you got the season running through everyone, you start thinking "Why do I need to put in the time? I'm going to blow them out anyway". I was like this for a little, and thank God for Springfield, because they gave me a good kick in the ass a few games ago.

I believe they just got outplayed. They were almost always set to try and pound the ball in. The opponent prepared for it and beat 'em.

I don't believe they threw that game. If you're not here to win the championship, then what are you playing for?

Yeah, props to the Pythons. We played to win. We knew they were going to try to slow down the run, but didn't think they'd be able to completely shut it down like they did. Good game by them.

Good luck the rest of the way.

Teams throwing games away are becoming more common every season. Have you seen the average level of the players in the AA league that teams get promoted to are? 26. If the Wolverines were to go up there, probably lose most of there games, and be set down here again. Why not just stay here and level up some more until you are ready to play? Because the teams in the upper leagues have had 2 seasons of Cap Free.

I'm willing to take that challenge, but I know there's a few teams that want to have their say about that first.

teams are throwing games? wow thats pathetic. plus it makes more sense to me to join the upper leagues earlier, and have more time to recruit uncapped. although i never even considered the wolverines did. after all, if they actually thought it out to throw a game, they would have been smart enough to at least wait for the zeta championship game and get some more $$ for 2 more playoff home games :]

that being said, if we make it that far, any 2nd or 3rd down punt you see is absolutely part of our field position game plan.

It doesn't make since to throw a game in the first round. Too much money to be had. You get total $1 million bonus for making final round plus ticket/concession sales for the home games.
