Lots of big games this week in Alpha as they start to sift out that playoff order.

Rotterdam @ Liverpool - Two of the top teams from last season are near the top of the heap again this year. The Scousers have reeled off 5 straight wins, while the Harbourmasters have stumbled a little bit of late, dropping 2 of their last 4.

Zurich @ Judah - Zurich is trying to scrape their way into the playoffs, just one game behind Ljublana for the #8 spot. However, they visit Judah this week. The Lions are playing as well as anyone right now, and are coming off their 7th straight victory.

Madrid @ Barcelona - Last year's "Spanish Civil War" was one of the best games of last season, with Madrid edging out the bulls. This season's version looks like it should be just as good with both teams right in the middle of the crowded Alpha playoff picture.

Not so many big games in Zeta this week, but there are a couple to keep your eye on.

Rome @ Rockaway - Rome looks to bounce back from last week's loss with a win this week over the Knights, a team that has struggled a bit this season, but isn't far removed from their playoff run of a year ago. Rome could use a win here if they want to hold off the Breakers and Maulers in the standings.

Munich @ Chelsea - Munich is tied for 7th place in the standings with the Breakers and visit the one-loss Cardinals this week. No one has a tougher remaining schedule than the Maulers with the Cardinals, Hammers, and scorching hot Lions from Alpha still on their slate.

Camelot @ Eindhoven - The Kings looking to solidify their claim atop the conference roll into Eindhoven this week. The Kings are tied for the 3rd spot in the Zeta standings, but they don't have an enviable schedule ahead of them with games against Ironton and Barcelona still to go. They'll need to find a win today if they hope to end up with home field advantage for the first round of their playoffs.

It looks like in Zeta the playoff teams are already decided, now they're just jockeying for position. The most interesting thing now is the 3 teams trying for the #3 and #4 seeds for a home playoff game in round 1.

The Kings are one of those 3, and we'll make them work for it tonight.

Great game Liverpool. We were worried about this game, but we're obviously happy we pulled it out.

Yeah man you guys won that one. Found an AI error... went for it on 4th down 3-4 times, cost us points once. Also found out our BU QB is deliberately sabotaging the game with rocket arm and dump pass always... Guess he's tired of playing BU.

Even without those things it would have been a close game. Well played.

I was a bit puzzled by the going for it on 4th and 3.5 from your own 8 at the end of the 1st half, but an AI error would explain it for sure.

I had that game early in the season where we went for it every time on 4th down. Also had the game where our QB was punting.

Could someone check this? I want to make sure that I'm not giving false hope to my players.

It looks to me like the Parrots have a slim chance of making the playoffs in Zeta.

7 Eindhoven Breakers 8-6-0
8 Munich Maulers 8-6-0
9 Hamburg Parrots 6-8-0

Instead of the Maulers let's look at the Breakers. Let's assume we win our last 2. BTW - tomorrow's game is vs the Breakers. This is significant. Then if the Breakers not only lose to us tomorrow but their final game vs 10-4 Madrid Hares, and as I see it we get into the playoffs.

It looks to me like if we win our last 2 and the Breakers lose their last 2, since we own the tiebreaker between us (tomorrow's game) and the Breakers- Parrots make it into the playoffs as we'll both be 8-8 with the Parrots holding the head to head tie breaker.

But before I get too worked up, is this a valid scenario?

Yes.. you have a pretty good chance
Maulers are in for a tough 2 games.. playingt the Hammers then 2nd place Alpha team.. so potentially you are into playoffs with only 1 win in next 2 games, if Maulers lose both theirs.

Maulers have the tie breaker on us. So the Parrots cannot get the Maulers spot as I see it. Parrots need to get to 8 wins which means winning out. Both the Maulers and Breakers are already at 8 wins so they need to lose their last 2 games. Assuming that happened all 3 of us are 8-8. But since the Maulers own the tie breaker with the Parrots (head to head win), they get the nod. However, I believe my scenario allows us to be at 8-8 and get the Breakers spot due to head-to-head loss.

Writing a scenario down here.

Eindhoven Breakers 8-8-0
Munich Maulers 8-8-0
Hamburg Parrots 8-8-0

Breakers vs Maulers is 1-0
Breakers vs Parrots hopefully 0-1

So 1-1 for Breakers

Maulers vs Breakers is 0-1
Maulers vs parrots is 1-0

So 1-1 for Maulers

Parrots vs Breakers hopefully 1-0
Parrots vs Maulers 0-1

So Parrots are 1-1

A three way tie so we look at points scored.

Breakers: 482
Parrots: 450
Maulers: 379

Updated later in the thread.
