If you call a run play, the distance has no effect.

If you call a pass play, distance comes into effect.

got it.

so the only way to affect the chances of a run formation is to call goalline and put in the jumbo package?

I personally wish the offensive AI was as user friendly as what the defense appears to be. On defense you get to select formations for your inputs. I suck with this offensive AI, and since my OC went MIA I am screwed.

Well, the def AI isn't all that.

Sure you get to pick base formation, but that doesn't always tell you where everyone will line up. Different combinations of short and shell coverages, give you different formations. Just like calling different plays with different Preferences give you different formations.

But I get frustrated with the limitations on the defensive side as well.

I'd love to be able to double cover specific players, or have the safeties lean more to one side. Have the LB's watch for the slant route, or plug a hole in the run.
Or not drop back into cover 5 yards deep in the endzone without blitzing them at the goal line.

Just because you pick a formation, doesn't mean the guys always do what you want them to.

Is the WR#2 position considered the possession receiver?
A player who would be suited with good possession skills / agility?

Do most offensive GMs use a playbook for a run heavy offense and a different one for a pass heavy offense.
