Alright guys, Alphas involvement on this forum has been lax to say the least. I will try to do this in the vein of the Alpha Report but Im not here to talk to myself. If you guys want me to keep doing this I need some feedback on the quality and if you guys like it or not. I would also like to get some conversation going before the playoffs. We have 5 teams at 10-2 or better so this post season should be a good one. Right now 5 teams have secured playoff spots, 5 teams have been eliminated, 6 teams are fighting for the final 3 spots, and 3 teams could be eliminated today which would seal up the playoff races and only leave positioning to be determined.
The Clinchers-
Melbourne-
Games of interest- Sacramento, Oklahoma, Wollongong
The Dreadnoks are currently in first place but that could change very quickly. A loss to the Bears would knock the 11-1 Dreadnoks to #3 due to Tiebreakers with Tonga and Oklahoma, provided everyone else wins out.
Papua New Guinea-
Games of interest- Adamstown, Newcastle
The Cannibals are firmly entrenched at #2, it will be much easier for them to move down than it would to move up. They hold their own destiny though. Win out and its two home playoff games.
Palau-
Games of interest- Cook Island, Gold Coast
Palau has to wait for one of the top two to slip up, and with arguably the easiest remaining schedule of the playoff clinchers, they will do just that.
Oklahoma-
Games of interest- Melbourne
The Bears playoff seeding is going to come down to one game, Melbourne. Win and they can jump back to #1. Lose and they can fall to #5. The Bears were the last remaining undefeated team in Alpha but have had some struggles lately as their opponents have found a kink in their armor. They need to win out to have a legitimate shot at home field throughout the playoffs.
Tonga-
Games of interest- Cook Island, Adamstown, Dayton, Endzone
The Havoc have to close out their season against 4 playoff hopefull teams. Now Adamstown and Dayton are not the toughest games on their schedule, but both are still alive in the playoff chase...for now. Tonga is the only team with 4 quality opponents left and need to win out, and have a Melbourne loss to get a shot at home field throughout.
In contention-
Gold Coast-
Games of interest- E.C., Palau
At 8-4 Gold Coast is in the driver seat for the #6 seed. They have a 1 game lead with 4 to go, but could fall out of the race with a meltdown combined with a run by Sacramento or Adamstown. Unlikely, but still a possibility. I wouldnt lose too much sleep over it.
E.C.-
Games of interest- Gold Coast, Cook Island
E.C. can move up to #6 with a win over Gold Coast, but a loss would drop them to #8 and make the final showdown against Cook Island even more important. Lose both and they could be out of the playoffs.
Cook Island-
Games of interest- Tonga, Papua, E.C.
For Sacramento, Adamstown, and Dayton, this is the team you are interested in. They currently hold the #8 seed, and have a brutal schedule left. 8-8 is looking like a realistic final record which would open the window for all 3 teams if they are able to win out.
Sacramento-
Games of interest- Melbourne
Sacramento would be eliminated with a loss combined with the Express and Cobras both winning.
Adamstown-
Games of interest- Tonga, Papua
Adamstown would be eliminated with a loss combined with the Express and Cobras both winning.
Dayton- would be eliminated with a loss combined with a Cook Island win.
