I'm guessing it's not good to have a magic number larger than the number of games left...things are really out of your hands then.

Tradewest is 3 wins for top 4 because Laval and Listowel play each other next game and we have tie-breaker over Laval.

Wow... in the West there's a huge cutoff after #6. 5 teams tied at 6-7 fighting for 3 playoff spots. And we knew what was gonna happen in the East at the beginning of the season, boy Halifax is cutting it close thoguh. I don't feel like looking it up right now, does Niagara have that head-to-head?

That is correct. It means you need teams ahead of you to lose games along with your team winning games.

Magic the Gathering? Wow.

The forumla is the number of games remaining + 1 - your wins - the number of losses of the team you need to finish ahead of. At the start of the season, that works out to...

16 + 1 - 0 - 0 = 17.

So, everyone starts the season with a magic number of 17.

Thanks. I never understood magic by the way. I did get in on one of the first shipments of Pokemon cards in like 97 or something like that, before the show started. My cousin special ordered them from Japan... that card shop was forever debted to him.

Magic the Gathering is actually pretty fun. If it didn't cost an arm and a leg to be competitive and the cards didn't bottom out in value after two years, I'd still be playing it. At MSRP, the price of a box could let me eat out for a week, buy a pair of new release video games, or boost and buy CE for a CB, HB, and G for three seasons, with money left to spare. Even after traditional card shop discounts, that's still two seasons of boosts and CE .

I played it in the mid 90's, but it got washed out with all the new editions etc too fast imo. Or maybe its just that i was like 10 when i played that i remember it as more "magical"
