Once upon a time these cats were good and smart (but still butt munchers). Now they are playing themselves off as good, but dumb as rocks.

They are losing to teams they are "on paper" much better than (including my own).

In my experience, its almost impossible to "throw" games. If your are significantly better, its almost impossible to lose. But is Brantford doing just that?

I'm suspicious they are setting themselves up as the 8 seed who takes the playoffs by storm. Its risky, but they sniff their own asses enough to think they could do it.

Ummm... Brantford just took us (Fiji) behind the woodshed, and in relative humility, we're pretty good. My guess is it just took a while for them to catch on to the latest round of Bortifications.

Yeah, but they waited until they were in the #7-9 range before woodshedding you.

I thought the same thing. Only reason why I don't think they are at this point is that they actually need help to make the playoffs with only a few games remaining. I still think they would be the most dangerous dark horse in the playoffs, if they make it.

Last year they lost in the second round as a 16-0 #1 seed. So I guess it's possible. IMO, they probably min-maxed their players to the point that they were seriously deficient in a number of stats that were undervalued last season, like tackling and agility. This season they probably just needed a few levels to correct all of that.

That's a possibility as well, but I just don't think that's enough to throw them off that far.

One big difference is that tactics are making a bigger difference this season IMO - Wagga Wagga is proof of that. We've scored a ton more points and been able to compete with teams that on paper are quite a bit better than us. Whereas last season, we weren't a concern for many of those same teams...

We've seen that with Tonga as well. We're getting blow outs in games that ought to be close.

Still, my experience says Brantford is smart enough to catch on pretty quick tactically. If an idiot like me can do it, surely a consortium of such supreme talent as Brantford can be tactically intelligent.

Right?

My impression of Brantford back in Season 2 was that they were winning games due to supreme builds, not scouting and game planning. I had the same impression last season, but honestly did not follow them as closely as I had in Season 2. I think with the new AI paired with the nerfing of the unbalanced build, they needed some time to right their ship and put together some successful tactics.

We 'Nites threw the Brisbane Heat game!

We threw for 22 of 41 for 279.5 with 2 TD's against an outstanding Heat team.

I think if they're shooting for the #8 seed there's one fatal flaw in that plan: They'll have to play us the first playoff game
