Power Rankings and Predictions - Week 13 - Eastern Conference

Wow, shakeups all over the place! Nah, just kidding. Yea, you’re reading the right thread. Here are my week 13 rankings and predictions. If these look familiar, then you’ve been reading my posts. I’m upset about my upsets...let’s lay low with those for this week. So play nice boys, and read on, cause this is how its really gonna happen:

Last Week’s Predictions: 6-2
Total Record: 34-6 (2-3 in upset picks)

1. Flappin' Heads (12-0)
Previous: 1 High: 1 Low: 3
Next: @Thunder Bay Hitmen
Notes: Good Luck in the Canada A tourney finals. Winner winner, chicken dinner (by 42)

2. Triple B's 13th Cadre (11-1)
Previous: 2 High: 2 Low: 6
Next: @Quebec City Chiefs
Notes: Here’s the game I’ve been waiting for. This is the battle to be the undisputed 2nd best team in Canada A#5 East. (Alright doesn’t sound so great when I put it that way.) Anyway, it’ll definitely be a hard fought game. This should be filled with offensive firepower and maybe a few turnovers. I think Triple B’s has the better supporting cast to their glamour players and wins this battle of the titans by 7

3. Quebec City Chiefs (11-1)
Previous: 3 High: 1 Low: 3
Next: vs Triple B’s 13th Cadre
Notes: If Triple B’s is King Kong, The Cheifs are Godzilla. (What would that make the Flappin Heads then? Megatron? I don’t know.) Anyway, I think the Chiefs have an advantage as far as playmakers go in this matchups. However, I don’t think they’ll put up quite enough and lose by a touchdown.

4. Eastside Eagles (9-3)
Previous: 5 High: 2 Low: 5
Next: vs Alberta Avengers
Notes: Eagles are still clearly number 4 after a convincing win. They may not win all the close ones, but they’ll always give you a game, and that’s admirable. They’ll win by 31.

5. Regina Pounders (9-3)
Previous: 4 High: 4 Low: 6
Next: @Port Dover Panthers
Notes: Even though they beat the number 6 team, I can’t move them past the team that blew them out last week. I think Regina is sitting just fine at number 5. They’ll beat the hell out of Port Dover. Win by 70.

6. St. John's Fog Devils (7-5)
Previous: 6 High: 4 Low: 11
Next: vs Quebec Eagles
Notes: Wow….just wow. Was Regina playing a pee-wee football team last game? The FD’s should beat a hapless Quebec Eagles team handily enough. Lets call it 30.

7. Tim Tebow Sucks (6-6)
Previous: 8 High: 6 Low: 14
Next: @St. Catherine’s Stompers
Notes: Time to rack up some wins, boys. You need every one of them to stay in the hunt. This one won’t be a problem. Win by 20.

8. Great Lakes Rum Runners (5-7)
Previous: 7 High: 7 Low: 15
Next: @Shqiperia Shqiperia
Notes: Another blowout game. Wow, everything aside from the Triple B’s, Quebec game is turning out to be a no-contest. Do we really even need me to type it? I will. Rum Runners win by a lot. (35)

9. Manitoba Manatees (6-6)
Previous: 9 High: 6 Low: 9
Next: @Mystery Alaskans
Notes: Should be a pretty good game here against a decent Alaskans team. However, Manatees are the last of the “Average teams”, where the Alaskans are more the start of the “Bad” teams. Manatees win by 10.

10. Thunder Bay Hitmen (7-5)
Previous: 10 High: 5 Low: 10
Next: vs Flappin Heads
Notes: Final 4 games sees 2 potential losses… which doesn’t bode well for the number 10 team. Still, they amassed a good number of wins against the cupcake teams that the hard stretch might not matter. Provided they don’t falter against the teams they shouldn’t then they might be ok. But until next week, they get their ass handed to them by 42.

11. Mystery Alaskans (4-8)
Previous: 13 High: 10 Low: 13
Next: vs Manitoba Manitees
Notes: As I said above, they’re really the best of the bad teams out of the playoff hunt. Good to be the best at something I guess, right? They lose by 10.

12. Alberta Avengers (3-9)
Previous: 12 High: 7 Low: 15
Next: @Eastside Eagles
Notes: Nothing to see here, move along. Loss by 31.

13. Quebec Eagles (3-9)
Previous: 11 High: 11 Low: 15
Next: @St. John’s Fog Devils
Notes: Bad team, but volatile opponent. They might have a chance against the unpredictable devils but they’re too bad to pose a real threat. They lose by 30.

14. Port Dover Panthers (2-10)
Previous: 14 High: 7 Low: 14
Next: vs Regina Pounders
Notes: This team is better than 2 others? Wow, the Rich are rich and the poor here are Ramen noodles poor. They lose by 70.

15. Shqiperia Shqiperia (1-11)
Previous: 15 High: 13 Low: 15
Next: vs Great Lakes Rum Runners
Notes: If Godzilla, King Kong, and Megatron are all taken, Shqiperia Shqiperia would probably be on the level of about Inspector Gadget. They lose by 35.

16. St. Catharines Stompers (0-12)
Previous: 16 High: 16 Low: 16
Next: vs Tim Tebow Sucks
Notes: See above: St. Catherine’s would probably be Lassie. Or maybe Garfield. Yea, Garfield. They lose by 20.

How are the Rum Runners and the Manitees ranked higher than the Hitmen when we have a better record AND we beat them both head to head? Just wondering...

Because those teams beat the Fog Devils, and you didn't. And the Fog Devils are ranked higher than all three of you. However, I don't think the Rum Runners have ANY chance of making the playoffs, and you guys do have a chance. But honestly, when you get that far down the list, does it really matter?

because making the list, i guess i subconsciously took into account that the hitmen have a harder schedule. plus, its different than just ranking cause i took it over week 8.

provided the hitmen win the 2 games they should, they'll move up to a playoff-level rank.

the rum runners have a legit shot at making the playoffs, as they play manitoba. plus Tebow, the other 6-6 team, also plays manitoba. if they beat manitoba and manitoba beats tebow, then the rum runners would be in with an 8-8 record, if i see it correctly.

Thanks again for doing these.

Us Hitmen don't mind laying in the weeds like we are.
We'll gladly accept the underdog role.
We'll quietly go 9-7 and take the 7 or 8 spot in the playoffs.

You don't want the 8th spot. Try your damnest to get that 7 seed.

By the way, I'm not really complaining I was just wondering. I think it's awesome that you do this. It's fun to come in here and see what your predictions are. It's even more fun to come in after we've defied those predictions Keep up the good work.

thanks.

believe it or not, doing this has actually helped me significantly, as i've gotten to know alot about the other teams in the division. makes coordinating games alot easier.

i can contrast this with the west, most of whom i know nothing about.

it might be a bit high, but you did score 50 against us, and we moved the ball. 70 is about as big as a blowout gets without playing a completely gutted team.

your certainly capable. and if i'm wrong, ehh, ive been wrong before but it'll be Alot - a little regardless
