These inter conference should be week 1, play-off spots might be determined by the results. The difference it would make is that if you knew that you had to make up a loss in the standings, you might coach your team different in the interceding conference games, maybe pull out the stops and try whatever desperate measures necessary.
Anyway, if you are going to do them week 16 - at least match up opponents from top to bottom. #1 thru #16 to play their counterpart in the other conference. This might preview the final game, but that only adds spice if they are seeing each other a 2nd time for the gold trophy!
