Lots of movement this week as lots of great games were played. Two previously winless teams get their first win, and the only two unbeaten teams remain that way. Here they are:
Biggest riser: Three teams tied at 3 (Beavers, Warriors, Iqaluit)
Biggest Faller: Montreal Canadiens (5 spots)
The top:
Team Name/Record/Prev Week
1) Saskatchewan Sasquatches/9-0/1
The #1 Passing attack keeps getting the job done and this team gets another impressive victory of the inbreeds.
2) Queen City Black Cats/9-0/2
The #1 Rushing game just doesn't slow down, even when they pass the ball 53 times. Also has the leagues stingiest defense, allowing 6.2 points/game.
3) Nebraska Husker Maniacs/8-1/4
This team, with the two below it, give every power ranking nightmares. They lose to Halifax but beat Cheyenne. Halifax loses to Cheyenne but beats Nebraska. Their offense is impressive: #8 passing, #5 rushing.
4) Halifax Hashishim/8-1/5
The latest team to lay a whooping to Montreal, they have the leagues best rushing defense, and it's not even close.
5) Cheyenne Mountain Air Force/7-2/3
Although they beat #4 Halifax, losses to #2 QC and #3 Nebraska have them ranked lower. They sport the leagues #3 pass defense, giving up half a yard more than #2 Destruction Bay.
6) Sudbury Spartans/7-2/6
Game against Halifax in two weeks will determine a lot. #7 Passing offense and #4 Rushing offense is very impressive. Only giving up 74.8 rush yards/game.
7) Vinland Vikings/7-2/7
Clearly the most talented team in the league, but it's hard to move them up after just a seven point win over the thunder. They are the only team to have just one starter UNDER level twenty.
8) Manitoba Icemen/6-3/10
Have faced the most difficult schedule in the league and are still winning. Only have two more true challenging games left this year (Beavers and Nebraska) and the rest should be W's.
9) Vancouver Vindicators/7-2/8
Some wondered why I hadn't ranked them higher. A 11 point loss to Manitoba is why. Currently still has the #3 rush defense in the league
10) Hillsburgh Hillbillies/7-2/9
Who can blame them for losing to the Hairy Varmits? They brought their gun for the hunt, but I think the alcohol knocked their shot off. They do, though, have the #2 passing offense in the league.
A notch Below:
11) St. John's Salty Dogs/5-4/13
Four straight W's has this team back in contention, but three of those were against cupcakes. They get another cupcake before facing #2 QC. A win in that game would put them right back in the mix of top teams.
12) Cold Lake Wolverines/6-3/11
After starting 6-0, three straight losses has this team plummeting. Does it have something to do with the #29 pass offense?
13) Saskatchewan Beavers/5-4/16
Five straight wins has me routing for this team to defy the odds and come back from 0-4 to make the playoffs and push for a home seed. Their offense will have to improve though, as neither their run or pass game is outstanding.
14) Winnipeg Warriors/4-5/17
Two straight wins over two very good teams might pull this team back into contention. Still, the two losses before that (vs Thunder and Wrestlers) really hurt. The #3 pass offense will keep them in games though.
15) Red Deer Blue Elk/5-4/15
Three games against cupcakes are over. Cheyenne is coming to town and looking to get back on the winning track. This will be a big test for Red Deer.
16) Calgary Thunder/5-4/14
The loss against the Guerrillas is the one that really hurts them. The others were against top ten teams. The next three games are brutal (Wolverines, Hillbillies, Vindicators).
17) Montreal Canadiens/6-3/12
They are too talented to keep getting blown out by the good teams. They at least have to be competitive in those games. The rushing game is respectable, but the passing game needs a bit of help.
Vying for playoff spots:
18) Iqaluit Arctic Wolves/4-5/21
They're still fighting, but they need a lot of help. Nothing real special about the offense or defense. Next two games against Halifax and Nebraska look like losses.
19) In San Jose Pimpin Aint Easy/3-6/20
They've got the #5 pass offense, but the level of competition in their conference is still too much for them. Look for this team to be in the mix next season.
20) Revelstoke Revolution/3-6/22
At the beginning of the season, I thought they would be a force. With only three more easy games, they'll have a tough time making the playoffs unless they pull off some major upsets.
21) Saskatoon Guerillas/4-5/18
After starting 3-0, it seemed they were a lock for the playoffs. If the season ended today, they wouldn't be in it. The good news is that the next four games are very winnable before the final three are brutal.
22) Calgary Wrestlers/4-5/19
This team is scrappy, but they've only got one more easy game (Castlegar), while the rest look like losses. They'll need a miracle to reach the playoffs.
Need lots of help to get in playoffs:
23) Destruction Bay Dragons/4-5/23
Has yet to beat a team ranked over #28, but they do have the #8 rush offense.
24) Flint Tropics/3-6/24
Will probably get another win against Quebec next week, and remaining games against Portsmouth, Toronto Smoke, and Destruction Bay are winnable. If they could pull off an upset or two, they *may* squeeze into the playoffs.
25) Portsmouth Cavaliers/3-6/25
They have almost the exact same schedules as Flint, except instead of playing the Smoke they play Vancouver. That's not very fair...
Ouch...
26)Toronto Smoke/1-8/28
Grats on their first win! Team ownership is in transition, but if the team stays with ksyankeejetsfan, they'll have real potential next season.
27) Kelowna Outlaws/1-8/26
They aren't so terrible it's disgusting, and they do have two more easy games on the schedule (Smoke, Boreal). They could win three games this year.
28) Quebec Boreal/2-7/27
At least the new owner is trying to improve his team...but getting it just before the season begins is tough.
29) Barkmere Bulldawgs/1-8/30
Get their first win of the season against Bloodweiser, and they'll probably beat Petersborough next week too.
30) Castlegar Crusaders/0-9/29
Only has two starters 16 or above...
31) Bloodwesier Bugle All Stars/0-9/31
Longest losing streak in Canada A6. At least they have one category to lead in.
32) Peterborough Preachers/0-9/32
Two weeks till they play Bloodweiser. That's their only real chance at a W this season.
