Calgary slays the Sasquatch

Calgary (CP)… Defending league champs Calgary put an end to the Saskatoon Sasquatch 5 game win streak yesterday, defeating the ‘Quatch 31-13 in Cowtown.

“We just couldn’t stop ‘em. We knew that they could put up numbers both in the air and on the ground and we tried to limit them,” said safety Sean Bishop, “Obviously it didn’t work out so well.”

The Destroyers put up nearly 500 yards of offense against a normally tough Sasquatch defence. Calgary QB Jay Mondejar led the Destroyers with two TD passes, while RB Deacon Conrad rushed for another couple along with 105 yards on the day.

The Saskatoon offense was a different story. With two interceptions deep in Calgary territory in the first half, Tagger and crew were hard pressed to get back on track. The second quarter was a write off, going 3 and out twice. As the second half began, the ‘Quatch began to find their rhythm again but it was too little, too late.

“Yeah, it’s a disappointment,” said quarterback Joe Tagger, “We got down early and its hard to come back against a team like Calgary. With our next game against Niagara, we can’t afford to make that mistake again.”

nice write up, it had to be a real bad morale drop, driving deep into Calgary's territory early on, TWICE, and throwing up the INT both times, coulda been a completely different game otherwise.
