The half way point of the season is upon us and hardly any questions have been answered. The schedule has set up for high drama the last half of the year with all of the top teams facing each other for the most part from here on out. So far the Dallas Horns are the only top team to be tested, and they have passed both tests.

The rankings

1 Dallas Horns 7-0-0 W7
Dallas is our top team. They have knocked off two consecutive undefeated teams in row. Victories over Sphere and OKC have put the Horns in prime position for the top spot in the west. A tough test again this week in the game with #2 Houston should serve to sort out the top for good.

2 Houston Orangebloods 7-0-0 W9
Houston is in position to control thier own destiny once again. Almost an opposite of last season, the offense is carrying the club. The Passing game has recieved a huge boost with the arival of Stephen Watson to take some presure off of Dean Cochoran. Teh running game is on track as well, with Whaley and Mitchell gettting the tough yards.

3 H-Town Hitmen 7-0-0 W9
In position to take their highest ranking of the year if Houston loses to Dallas. The hitmen are doing their buisness quiet and professionally. Led by a great rushing attack, Jemarcus Kane and Slasher Dasher each are over 1200yds so far. The defense is solid but untested. Waiting for a big matchup.

4 Texas Roughnecks 7-0-0 W7
The roughnecks are very talented, and have put up some great offense. The QB and HB aquisitions in the offseason have payed dividends so far. The defense appears to be what could hold them back. When this team achieves balance, the rest of the west better take note.

5 Caribbean Sphere 6-1-0 L1
Only bimish is last weeks loss to Dallas. Sphere will be fine and will challenge for the fourth spot. If they can upset a a couple of the other top teams they could finish as high as third.

6 Oklahoma City Spartans 6-1-0 W1
Powerfull and dangerous. Waiting for another shot at the wests elite guard.

7 Oklahoma Thunder 4-3-0 W4
Only have lost to elite teams. A very well built and higher lvl team that will make some noise in the post season. I think they may rise as high as 5/4 with a good showing against the other top teams. Not threat to not get in the post season.
8 Allen Zephyrs 4-3-0 L1
appear to be hanging on for dear life to cling to this coveted 8th spot.

9 Round Rock 12th Man 2-5-0 W1
10 Omaha Mavericks 2-5-0 W1
11 Austin Longhorns 1-6-0 L1
12 North Carolina State 1-6-0 L4
13 Rockford Wrecking Crew 1-6-0 L6
14 Texas Tornado 1-6-0 L5
15 Austin Powers 0-7-0 L7
16 San Francisco Stonecutters 0-7-0 L7

The games

GOTW
#1 Dallas Horns vs. #2Houston Orangebloods
http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=774&team2=762
Biggest matchup so far in the Western Conference. Dallas booted then undefeated Houston out of the playoffs last season and here we sit. Dallas is the class of the conference with Houston hoping to put a dent in the monster t-money has built. The winner of this game is the clear favorite to win the west regular season title. Both teams are plutting some great offense out on the field. Solid running games, high flying offense and a bunch of points so far. The difference seems to be in the way they get there. Dallas is a little more blue collar knock you in the face while Houston will prefer to go over the top in a aerial display of dominance. Both teams are talented on defense. Dallas seems to be a little better at this stage of the season. Houston is still searching for answers on that side of the ball.
I think I am going to have to give the edge to Dallas in this matchup based on the fact that they are battle hardened already and Hou is not. Also,, until Houston can put a championship defense on the field they will be looking up at the Horns. Upset rating would be about 9/10. Houston will need to score a lot of points to pull off the victory here.

Pick Dallas 31-28

Allen Zephyrs vs. Caribbean Sphere

Sphere looks to wash down the humble pie Dallas served them last week with a little zypher float.

Sphere 41-12

Rockford Wrecking Crew vs. Texas Roughnecks
http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=112&team2=776
Roughnecks will have little trouble with the wreckers. Look for the offense to march, and the pass defense to be perplexed at some of the inability to completly shut the down.
Tex 58-13

Omaha Mavericks vs. Oklahoma Thunder
http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=765&team2=1275
I am not sure what to think, I know thunder wins, but how much of a game can Omaha make of it. They traditionally have been a tough out, but now, not so much. I am leaning toward a big loss.
Thunder
50-20

A nice little matchup. I think the two involved are desperate to get back in the hunt for #8. I like Austin here. I think the pass game is a bit more polished and they have a bit more big play ability. wont be a blowout I think.

Austin 33-24

100-0 State.

Oklahoma City Spartans vs. Texas Tornado

I want to say this is a good game, but its not. OKC is a great team with elite lvl talent. They should be able to run at will. Texas should make the chase for playoffs interesting later in the season.

41-9 OKC

I can see us giving up 13 . . . . but 38pts? You think our offense is that far behind the rest of you?
