1. Carolina Hammer 7-0 Last week = 1
Carolina has clearly established themselves as the team to beat with resounding victories over the #2 Dogg Pound and the #3 Rock Stars, especially since the Dogg Pound beat the Care Bears who beat DC. At this point, one has to wonder if anyone can beat them or even get close. Up Next: #9 Oregon who Carolina should beat easily.

2. Dogg Pound 5-2 Last week = 3
The Dogg Pound was the latest to experience the dominance the Carolina Hammer ha displayed this year as they lost 27-6. However, they move into the #2 spot as the result of the Care Bears humbling the #5 DC Warriors. The Dogg Pound get to prove their mettle this week as they take on #5 DC Warriors. A win will almost guarantee a home playoff game, while a loss will FUBAR my nicely ordered rankings beyond.

3. Rock Stars 6-1 Last week = 4
I really can’t tell you if the Rock Stars are better than the Dogg Pound or not. Their common opponents are split almost and the Rock Stars did do better against Carolina. I have a feeling that if each of these teams played every week of the season, they would both end up winning 8 times. We will have to see how the rest of the season plays out to get a better feel for them. After the Rock Stars polished off #8 French Lick in week 7, their schedule gets even easier as they travel to #13 Cleveland.

4. Care Bears 6-1 Last week = 5
The Care Bears put the Orlando game in the rearview mirror in week 7 as they humbled a #5 DC team that had gotten to big for their britches. As a result of their continued regular season dominance over the warriors, the Care Bears move into the #4 spot. Up next they take on #10 NY who is looking for a statement game of its own. While NY has been down this year, the Care Bears would be wise to not take them lightly.

5. DC Warriors 6-1 Last week = 2
I’ll confess DC had gotten a little over confident and were put back in their place by the #4 Care Bears in week 7. Fact is, this is a team who has rolled over an easy early schedule with its only significant win over #8 French Lick. Until, they beat a better team than French Lick they will remain outside of the elite teams in this league. Up next, they get to take on the #2 Dogg Pound in a redemption game.

6. Eleven Wise Monkeys 6-1 Last week = 6
The Monkeys got a stat polishing game last week as they took care of #16 West Bend 186-0. They get one more easy game this week as they take on #15 Cincinnati before they start the rough part of their schedule.

7. Canton Hall of Famers 6-1 Last week = 7
Canton did what it was supposed to do in week 7 as they beat the #13 Cleveland Greyhounds, 52-14 and they get to continue to polish the stats page as they take on #16 West Bend in week 8.

8. French Lick 2-5 Last week = 8
Any hopes French Lick had for more than a #8 seed were dashed in week 7 as they lost to the #3 Rock Stars 37-3. They still have a couple tough games left on their roster before we can pencil them into the playoffs, but next week should be winnable for them as they take on the #11 Colorado Storm.

9.Oregon Ducks 3-4 Last week = 9
Oregon moved to within 1 game of .500 as they beat the Columbus Spartans 41-7 in week 7. However, any hopes of reaching that plateau will have to wait another week as they take on #1 Carolina Hammer in week 8.

10. NY Steel-heads 4-3 Last week = 10
NY finished the last of 3 easy games as they polished off #15 Cincinnati 91-0 in week 7. We will get to see if they turned things around this week as they take on #4 Care Bears. If they lose this game, there will still be time for redemption but the window is starting to close.

11. Colorado Storm 2-5 Last week = 11
Colorado racked up another win over the bottom of the conference with a 49-0 thrashing of Compton in week 7. Things get a little trickier this week as they take on #8 French Lick, but Colorado is not a dog I’m counting out in this fight as they may surprise us with the upset win.

12. Columbus Spartans 0-7 Last week = 12
Columbus has looked miserable this year and has fallen to 0-7 following a disastrous loss to Oregon. Will the team be able to rebound against #14 Compton this week? They should, but whether they will is another story.

13. Cleveland Greyhounds 1-6 Last week = 13
Cleveland continues its losing streak in week 7 – this time a 38 pt loss to Canton. Things don’t get any easier next week against the #4 Rock Stars in a game that should be over by mid-2nd quarter.

14. Compton ‘Nilla Wafers 0-7 Last week = 14
Compton suffered its 7th loss of the season when they were blownout by Colorado 49-0. Until they show something, they will remain at the bottom of the rankings. Next up is a shot at the upset of #12 Columbus, but they will have to do better than they have recently to pull off the W.

15. Cincinnati Slaughter 0-7 Last week = 15
It looks to be a long season for Cincinnati and its not getting over anytime soon. Another week and another blowout loss – this time at the hands of # 10 NY. Up next is the #6 Monkeys.

16. West Bend Warlocks 2-5 Last week = 16
The wait for the new owner continues. Until then, I don’t see the need to write much about this team.

#1 Carolina Hammer vs. #9 Oregon Ducks
Oregon’s established a reputation for tough games this year, but they’re not going to be able to hang with a Carolina team that is dominating the A1 East this year. Carolina by 20
Carolina 27 – Oregon 7

#2 Orlando Dogg Pound vs. #5 DC Warriors
Orlando is looking to prove it deserves the #2 spot and a win over DC along with its win over the Care Bears would solidify their status. Meanwhile DC is looking for some redemption after a disappointing game against the Care Bears. Again, I can’t pick against my own team so DC by 1.
DC 1 – Orlando 0

#3 Rock Stars vs. #13 Cleveland
Rock Stars continue the easy part of their schedule as they beat Cleveland by 60.
Rock Stars 60 – Cleveland 0

#4 Care Bears vs. #10 NY Steel-heads
A game that has traditionally been one of the best has been relegated by the upstarts in the league. The Care Bears hope to hold on to a home playoff game while NY is hoping it has straightened things out. Look for NY to pull off the upset by 3.
NY Steel-heads 17 – Care Bears 14

#6 Eleven Wise Monkeys vs. #15 Cincinnati
Sorry – but there’s just not much to write about this game to make it interesting. Monkeys by 56
Monkeys 59 – Cincinnati 3

#7 Canton Hall of Famers vs. #16 West Bend
The search goes on for West Bend’s new owner. In the meantime, Canton wins by 150
Canton 150 – West Bend 0

#8 French Lick vs. #11 Colorado
French Lick has the #8 ranking by virtue of wins over #9 Oregon and #10 NY. Meanwhile, Colorado has gotten beaten handily by the top teams in the league while destroying the teams ranked below them. Look for French Lick by 17.
French Lick 27 – Colorado 10

#12 Columbus Spartans vs. #14 Compton ‘Nilla Wafers
In the battle of the basement, both teams are looking for their first win of the season. Look for Columbus by 10
Columbus 17 – Compton 7

I think Colorado may surprise French Lick...

Good write ups as usual. Hopefully Compton can fix the broken parts and get back into something that can be considered competition.

I got a feeling about that one as well - especially with French Lick trading away their QB. Just didn't have the balls to pick them.

I'm pretty sure Orlando is 5-2 and not 6-1. Not sure if that would impact your rankings but it should. Better record+win should mean higher in rankings. Not saying I'd beat Orlando now because like you I think it's about as close as you can get between the two of us, but when it comes to a ranking there is no way they should be ahead of the Rockstars at this particular point.

I gotta go on who I feel would win if the 2 teams played right now. Orlando has looked very tough since their week 1 win loss and the Care Bears victory is huge right now. I could be very wrong, but its a 2a and 2b right now. Once the rockstars hit the tougher part of their schedule, I'll have more to judge it on...

Thanks, that was a great game.

We were a few plays away, but it did come down to the wire.

There needs to be something to limit games like today. I feel terrible scoring 208 points on a CPU/rebuilding team. We played back ups early and forced the rush, short of swapping the Defense for the Offense I don't know how to not run up a score. I know the agents like to see their players put up numbers like that but there really needs to be a mercy rule. Plus it doesn't seem fair to Cleveland, Orlando and Baltimore who apparently played West Bend before the crash.

Keep working at it West Bend, it'll be a ton of work but you can turn it around. Best of luck.
