Two undefeated teams lose this past week, leaving three remaining unbeatens. That could last for a while as Halifax and QC don't play until near the end of the season. Here are the rankings after Week seven games:
Biggest riser: Three teams tied at 2
Biggest Faller: Cold Lake Wolverines (5 spots)
The top Eleven:
Team Name/Record/(Prev Week Ranking)
1) Saskatchewan Sasquatches/7-0/(1)
Came out and showed they are, without a doubt, the best team in the West. Knocking off the Vikings was their toughest game this season. Expect that win streak to keep growing.
2) Queen City Black Cats/7-0/(3)
Didn't play as well as they should have against Iqaluit, but they still won big. Has a big challenge next week vs the Sudbury Spartans.
3) Halifax Hashishim/7-0/(4)
One of three remaining unbeaten teams, they finished their cupcake schedule of three weeks and get two tough teams back to back (Cheyenne and Montreal)
4) Vinland Vikings/6-1/(2)
Lost to the #1 team, and can't wait to see them in the playoffs.
5) Nebraska Husker Maniacs/6-1/(5)
In the middle of the cupcake part of the schedule. This team will get bored and want real competition again soon.
6) Cheyenne Mountain Air Force/6-1/(7)
Didn't play a tough team (Portsmouth), but they beat 'em good and have a very tough game against Halifax next week.
7) Manitoba Icemen/5-2/(9)
Tough team came up big in a win against previously undefeated Cold Lake. They will be a force in the playoffs
8) Sudbury Spartans/6-1/(8)
Face their biggest challenge of the year next week against #2 QC. Sudbury owner says his own team is "overrated"
9) Vancouver Vindicators/6-1/(10)
Doubt you'd find their GM saying they were "overrated". Very impressive victory over Saskatoon though.
10) Hillsburgh Hillbillies/6-1/(11)
Easy part of the schedule now over, they face a grueling match up against the Icemen next week.
11) Cold Lake Wolverines/6-1/(6)
First loss of the season knocks this team way down. Must prove themselves against a good team now to regain their reputation as one of the top dogs.
Vying for Playoff spots:
12) Montreal Canadiens/5-2/(12)
Should they have beat Flint by more? That's what separates this team from the best eleven.
13) St. John's Salty Dogs/3-4/(14)
Beginning to look like the team many thought they would be. Expect a few more easy "W"'s before they are challenged again
14) Calgary Thunder/4-3/(15)
Nice win against the Revolution, but still has trouble beating the best teams.
15) Red Deer Blue Elk/3-4/(17)
Win against easy team and losses by teams that were above them allows them to move up. Has two more easy games before Cheyenne rolls around.
16) Saskatoon Guerillas/3-4/(13)
Three straight wins followed by four straight losses leaves this team looking down. They should stop the free fall next week against Castlegar.
17) Saskatchewan Beavers/3-4/(19)
Opposite of Saskatoon, this team had four straight losses followed by three wins. They should get at least one more win against Kelowna before facing the Guerrillas.
18) Calgary Wrestlers/4-3/(20)
Very nice win over a good Winnipeg teams keeps this team in playoff contention. A across town visit to the Thunder looms large though, can they win again?
19) Winnipeg Warriors/2-5/(18)
Team usually doesn't play up to their talent level, but if they do, they're pretty good.
20) Revelstoke Revolution/2-5/(16)
Beat the cupcake Castlegar Crusaders, but only other victory was Vancouver by one point. They've had a tough schedule, but they gotta pull some out.
Needs some help to contend:
21) Iqaluit Arctic Wolves/2-5/(21)
This team is underrated and actually played pretty well against the Black Cats. I expect they'll move up a bit before the season is over.
22) In San Jose Pimpin Aint Easy/1-6/(22)
Another underrated team that has made improvements, but hasn't been able to convert it into W's just yet.
23) Destruction Bay Dragons/3-4/(23)
Every week I say it: Three wins against cupcake teams followed by four straight big losses against real teams...this is the reason I never rated them very highly to begin with.
Already building for next season:
24) Flint Tropics/3-4/(24)
Like Destruction Bay, their three wins came against the cupcakes Barkamere, Bloodweiser, and Petersborough.
25) Portsmouth Cavaliers/3-4/(25)
See above. Doesn't play up to the talent they have
26) Kelowna Outlaws/1-6/(26)
I still think this team will win a few more games then you would otherwise think by looking at their win/losses so far. They're better than record indicates.
27) Quebec Boreal/2-5/(27)
I don't think they will win much more this year.
28)Toronto Smoke/0-7/(28)
At least this bottom of the barrel team is trying hard to get better. The others seem content to rot at the bottom.
Free wins:
29) Castlegar Crusaders/0-7/(29)
At least the West has one cupcake for teams to beat up on
30) Barkmere Bulldawgs/0-7/(30)
Watch out, after one more blowout loss they face #31 and #32 in successive weeks! This team might just win a game yet.
Teams your grandmother's old-aged-little dog could have beat:
31) Bloodwesier Bugle All Stars/0-7/(31)
Although this team is pretty terrible, at least they aren't relying on lots of CPU's.
32) Peterborough Preachers/0-7/(32)
When teams play them, it's more of a challenge NOT to score over 100.
