Week 7 - Eastern Europe AA#4 Power Rankings *Official*
Once again it's time to take a look at this week's power rankings. Week seven's rankings are sponsored by China. Yes, that's right, our communistic, pseudo-capitalistic, authoritarian friends to the far East have not only sponsored our rankings this week, but like most business in America, have provided an influx of capital, and now own the rankings system. And much like Rob Riggel on the John Stewart show, seeing the opening ceremonies where a man could walk on air, 6 mil drummers could drum to the same beat and the unveiling of the Chinese Death-Star, I'm convinced China will be destroying Alderaan and soon, taking over the planet. So, honestly, i didn't really argue when Lord Jintao-Vader demand...err...offered to sponsor our rankings this week. Hurry and read this, as much like the state sponsored news agencies in China, the link could disappear at any time depending on if i unveil the truth about the Chinese gymnastics teams and the pictures where, just last week, they all were in the potty training stage of life.
Moontayles disclaimer:
None of these rankings are done by 'feel' or 'intuition'. I use straight up math and when Excel is done sorting them, that's how I rank them. It's as fair as I can mathematically make it (except in the case of LBT, where i just input any numbers that look good and make their ranking go up). If you have any questions or comments feel free to mail me.
So, without further adieu, here are your week 7 OFFICIAL Eastern Europe AA#4 power rankings.
Congratulations are in order, to both Orange Blood Nation and the Sparta Spartans, for getting their first EE AA4 wins this past week. Orange Blood beat Piotreks Fantasy in convincing fashion, while Sparta handled Florida over in Alpha. Congrats to both of your teams, welcome to the family!
Otega's Game of the Week
My pick for game of the week for week 8 is London Head Hunters heading to The Great Strahov Stadium to face the Prague Panthers. Prague might be the hottest team in Zeta, reeling off 4 straight wins, the last 2 against ranked opponents. London, upset by Longreach the week previous, came out last game and handled business against Sydney. This has all the makings of a great football game.
My pick London handles business, in a 24-17 win against Prague.
Power Rankings:
1) Krakow Cows (7-0) Last Week (LW) - UC (49.23)
No surprise, Krakow seems to barely be breaking a sweat during their games. A very convincing win against up the upstarts from Moscow, ID has left Krakow very much the favorite to win it all this year. However, as Derek so aptly pointed out, they have a tough road ahead still, finishing up with those hottie Tigers from Lowell.
Last Game vs. Moscow, W 50-16
Next Game at Fehervar
2) St. Petersburg Storm (6-0) LW - UC (34.70)
St. Pete is showing why they must be considered the favorites now to win Zeta conference. And although C-Town played them tough, St. Pete prevailed in a close one this week. Still with some tough games ahead, including this week's contest vs. Sydney, St. Pete should be battle tested and hardened going into their last conference game against arch-nemesis, LHH.
Last Game vs. C-Town, W 22-17
Next Game vs. Sydney
3) Lowell Bengal Tiger (6-1) LW - #5 (21.78)
After a 1 and 1 start, Lowell has reeled off 5 straight wins, giving up a total of 15 points while scoring 243 points. With the easiest part of their schedule almost completed, they will jump into the second half of the season playing nothing but the top half of the Alpha conference. On a side note, LBT played Minsk in a rematch of last years early season victory for Lowell. Minsk (3-3, AAA2#2) narrowly avoided the upset with a 27-21 victory. Lowell had a chance to win the game with 2min on the clock, but were unable to convert on 2nd and 1, 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1 at the Minsk 10.5 yard line, and despite an interception 5 plays later, just couldn't punch it into the endzone. Overall a great football game, and a great way to renew what probably will be a rivalry for a long time coming. Thanks to Fiddy and Lalonghorn for setting it up. See ya next season Minsk!
Last Game at London, W 77-3
Next Game vs. Athens
4) Moscow Bears (6-1) LW - #6 (17.64)
Moscow moves up 2 places to the 4 spot, as the second hottest team in Alpha at the moment. After a first week loss to Lowell, the Bears have reeled off 6 straight wins and have quietly moved up the rankings. This team is on a roll, but will have a big test this week against NISSA, and will face Krakow in 3 weeks.
Last Game at Athens, W 15-0
Next Game vs NISSA
5) The Look (6-1) LW - #7 (16.43)
The look jumps up 2 spots this week as well, with a very convincing win at Subotica. They have recovered well since their loss to St. Pete, and look to continue on their winning ways against Orange Blood and Transylvania before starting on a tough 5-game stretch.
Last Game at Subotica, W 52-28
Next Game vs. Orange Blood
6) London Head Hunters (6-1) LW - #10 (15.99)
London moves up 4 spots this week, to the 6-hole with a very solid win against the best 2-5 team in the history of GLB. However, they can't afford to take it easy at this point, with games against Prague and Haguenau on the horizon. Look for LHH to turn it up a notch and finish their schedule strong, before what is looking like might be a game to decide the #1 and 2 seeds in Zeta, against St. Pete in week 15.
Last Game at Sydney, W 37-24
Next Game at Prague
7) Haguenau Coyotes (5-2) LW - #11 (12.76)
Haguenau breaks into the top 10 this week, riding a 5 game winning streak with key wins over Hat Creek and Volgograd. They looked great against Hat Creek, winning in convincing fashion. However, this team has a bit of Jekyl and Hide to them, and with Longreach, London, Prague and Sydney in their next 4 match ups, one has to wonder if they have the MoJo to make it through unscathed. Are they for real and considered a top 3-4 Zeta team? These next 4 are going to answer that question for us. Good luck Haguenau, I'm pulling for you guys in this stretch!
Last Game at Hat Creek, W 35-20
Next Game vs. Longreach
8) International Players (6-1) LW - #4 (12.22)
International takes their first loss of the season to NISSA, in a bit of a stunner. Another upstart out of Alpha, International gets a week to recoup and beat up on the Chernobyl Pop Warner team, before they face another extremely difficult test in Krakow. Let's see how they respond.
Last Game at NISSA, L 26-31
Next Game vs. Chernobyl
9) NISSA Dauphins (5-2) LW - 13 (11.34)
NISSA moves back into the top 10 this week, with a very key win over International. Although they shouldn't be, they have been a bit of surprise this season, coming out of the gates at 5-2. FK has his boys playing good football and it's showing. Riding a 2 game streak with wins over Fehervar and International, NISSA has 2 very important games coming up in Moscow Bears and LBT. If they can get out at 1/2, look for NISSA to be staring down a 3 or 4th seed in the playoffs.
Last Game vs. International, W 31-26
Next Game at Moscow Bears
10) Moscow Vandals(6-1) LW - #3 (9.98)
With the loss to Krakow this week, and a lot of mild upsets, Moscow drops seven spots in the rankings, but still squeaks in at the 10 spot. Knowing they had a tough game ahead of them, Krakow showed the young Vandals what it means to be the top team in Alpha, with a thorough 50-16 beating. However, the Vandals should be able to recover from this, with a game against a slumping Leicester this week, before heading to Warsaw to face the always tough Cossacks.
Last Game at Krakow, L 16-50
Next Game vs. Leicester
Silver Medalists
11) Prague Panthers
12)Fehervar Enthroners
13) C-Town Hoodlums
14) Longreach Wildcats
15) Chernobyl Radionuclides
16) Volgograd Berserks
17) Tallaght Outlaws
18) Warsaw Cossacks
19) Sydney Tire Irons
20) Hat Creek Cattle Company
Bronze Medalists
21) Carluke Cobras
22) Sparta Spartans
23) Subotica Scorpions
24) Charleston Roadwarriors
25) Athens Aggies
United States Soccer Team
26) Leicester Lynxes
27) Orange Blood Nation
28) Transylvania Bats
29) Florida Buccaneers
30) Piotreks Fantasy
31) London Dolphins
32) Chernobyl Meltdowns
Alpha - 6
Zeta - 4
So of course, as always, LOL@Zeta
*Big moves up and down this week, as many teams had losses drop off their previous 4 rankings, while other teams just pulled out wins against higher ranked teams. It should be noted that it doesn't make sense to me that the vandals would drop so far down, but i've doubled and triple checked the numbers an it adds up.
