Alright I saw an argument about strength and blocking in another thread. It claimed that centers (because of higher gains in strength and blocking) are more valuable O-linemen than guards or tackles.

I was curious what kinda strength and blocking can a Guard or a Tackle rack up by level 16 if he focuses completely on it

A tackle gets 0.4/level to STR/BLK
A guard gets 0.67/level to STR/BLK
A center gets 1/level to STR/BLK

So, by level 16 a C will gain +15/15, G +10.55/10.55, and an OT +6/6 in raw skills.

Two other things that affect the strength:
1) STARTING ROLL - Each position has to have a minimum of x points in their major attributes. For a C, it is very possible to get a starting roll of 22/25 or something sick like that leaving them only 49 points to get both capped. An OT which has 5 skills might be lucky to get an 20/18 which leaves them 58 points to cap both.

2) LEVEL BONUS HELPS CAP -

For that C with the 22/25 roll who is aiming to cap, let's just say he doesn't slow build or anything just straight dumps and we'll ignore training.
So, level 1 he is at 22/40.
Level 2 -> 23/46
Level 3 -> 28/48 (BLK capped, start on STR).
Level 4 -> 34/49
Level 5 -> 40/50
Level 6 -> 46/51
Level 7 -> 48/52 with 4 extra SP!

Now, let's do an OT with an 20/18 roll. using the same rules.
At level 1 he's at 35/18.
Level 2 -> 40.4/18.4
Level 3 -> 45.8/18.8
Level 4 -> 48.2/22.2
Level 5 -> 48.6/27.6
Level 6 -> 49/33
Level 7 -> 49.4/38.4
Level 8 -> 49.8/43.8
Level 9 -> 50.2/48.2 with 1 extra SP!

As you can see, the C is CLEARLY ahead and his lead will only grow. By level 9 that C would be at 57 STR/54 BLK (if he went STR first) or at 50STR/59BLK and will hit the +3 cap on BLK with the bonus leveling up to 10!

I'm not gonna work it all the way to 16, but it's gonna be a pretty big difference over a G and a HUGE difference over an OT.

thanks mate nice to see, a friend of mine asked about my center and why he is on a team with all centers in the O-line, he didn't believe me when I said the plus 1 was worth it but its really nice to see some figures to prove it

curious how much that is offset by out-of-position penalties

you guys act like strength and blocking are the only important attributes for linemen.

for shame.

Its not but its much easier to rush to the 4 for 1 caps and let it be for a center (he can do it by level 16) and then focus on other attributes for the rest of his career while natural progression takes care of everything else.

For example my center will by level 24 have 100+ strength, 75+ blocking and softcapped agility as well as 25 or so in speed and vision. This is because he got strength and blocking early and coasted with natural growth

i also think it would make sense using a C at G or T even if you don't want crazy strength/blocking. using the above calculations (thank you by the way), you could get Str/Blk to 48/52 by level 7. then, say you don't want to go nuts with Str/Blk, you could stop there FOREVER. by level 21, you now have 62/66. then, assuming that's where the auto-up drops to 0.75 per, by level 29, you have 68/72...that's pre-equip, and that's not throwing a single SP into Str or Blk since L7 (and still had 4 SP left over at L7 to boot!). so, by L21, you have 74 SP to spread around to stam/vis/agil/conf/spd/SA

only position where it isn't so great is LT, cause you can't get the Protect SA
