Well, unfortunately this is the last edition that im going to put out... I just dont have the time to do these any more and my life is just going to be picking up in the next few weeks (not to mention a new clingy girlfriend who wants to go out a couple times a week). Its been a pleasure doing these but I just dont have the time any longer to deal with them.
If anyone else wants to pick up the torch ive heard great things about league projectors and power rankings systems and have heard that they dont take much time once installed... and there are even a few macro's out now that will automatically pull most of the information making it effortless. Im not computer savy enough to run all that but if someone is it probally wouldnt require much effort.
Anywase, without further delay...
Lion Conference
1. Zimbabwe Beavers (6-0): The top spot in Lion is still a toss up for the time being as there are currently three equally deserving teams… the Beavers however have a win over the Wasps which sets them apart from the Marvins and Nightmare who have both had relatively easy opening schedules.
2. Etheopian Starvin Marvins (6-0): Through 6 games the Marvins offense is just as potent as in season 3, and this squad looks to continue their success. The next two games should bring easy wins as the Marvins expect to cruise to 8-0.
3. Nigeria Nightmare (6-0): The Nightmare have more than proven that they belong in AAA#1 however like the Marvins they have had a fairly easy schedule to start the season off. The next few games should show us where they really stand in comparison to the other top teams, but I wouldn’t bank on these guys slipping.
4. Somalia Wasps (5-1): After a game 3 loss to the Beavers the Wasps have rebounded from their first ever regular season loss with two straight wins. The Wasps shouldn’t have much of a problem with their next few games aside from the Shadow Chasers before closing off the season with a few tough games… expect these guys to lock up a playoff berth early.
5. Kalahari Night Riders (5-1): After dropping their season opener the Knight Riders have stormed back to win 5 straight. Like many of the other top teams they have a down period in the middle of the season before a tough finally.
6. Sahara Shadow Chasers (3-3): What can I say about these guys? They have 3 losses but each of those came at the hands of a top team. The Shadow Chasers kept each close and nearly pulled off a few wins giving a more than ample representation of themselves.
7. Zimbabwe Bush Squirrel Rebellion (4-2): Losing to a solid Shadow Chasers team was an acceptable loss, but the unexpected upset by the Frogs was a shocker. The Squirrels still field a solid unit, but they are entering a very tough stretch of their schedule and im not so sure that splitting their next 4 games will leave them in a very good position, can these guys pull a couple of upsets to keep themselves sitting pretty?
8. Uganda Silverbacks (4-2): The Silverbacks are in the exact same position that they were last season, atop the middle tier teams, which should be good enough to get them into the playoffs. If they can win 3 of their next 4 they should be close to securing a berth.
9. African Killer Frogs (2-4): Had a huge day upsetting the Squirrels, has this team finally found their groove? The Frogs face 3 top teams in a row which isn’t hope inspiring but as they proved today they are capable of upsets… can this team make a late season charge towards the playoffs?
10. Madagascar Outlaws (2-4): The outlaws robbed the Silverbacks today, but it was certainly a deserved win. These guys have many of the top teams already out of the way, so the playoffs might still be in the cards if these guys can keep beating their middle tiered competition.
11. Fort Wayne Generals (2-4): A tough opening schedule wont ease up for another few games… but if these guys pull of an upset or two they could be sitting pretty entering the back end of their schedule
12. Sahara Death Stalkers (2-4): The good news? I think 2 wins is more than enough to ensure these guys that they wont be relegated once again. The bad news? Don’t expect these guys to win many more games this season.
13. South African Bulls (1-5): The bulls lost a close one to the Death Stalkers but are looking to take 2 of their next 3 games over the bottom two teams to place themselves outside of the “relegation splash zone.”
14. Egypt Empire (0-6): Talent wise these guys are one of the best in the entire league, and depth wise they can match anyone… yet they cant figure out how to win games. If these guys can get it going they are a weekly threat to win but they playoff door is quickly closing if it isn’t already shut.
15. Århus Medisterpølser (0-6): The next two games will be big ones for these guys… the real fight this season will be to finish in 15th place which should require only 2 or 3 wins.
16. Malagasy Bushmen (0-6): All signs currently point to this team being destined for relegation, however games 8 & 9 will give them the opportunity to attempt to dodge the bullet… will this team capitalize?
Elephant Conference
1. Gold coast Corsairs (6-0): Just about the only thing that is certain in the Elephant conference rankings this week is that the Corsairs are currently undisputedly in first. They still have a few tough games left this season, but thus far they have handled everything thrown at ‘em.
2. Eaton Beavers (5-1): The Beavers continue to play lights out on defense against all levels of competition. Many tests still remain this season but the Beavers are looking like they will be in an excellent position for the playoffs.
3. Los Angeles Xtreme (5-1): Todays victory over the Saints was huge for the Xtreme and further cements them as one of the best teams in Elephant. The Jinx and beavers should off the Xtreme challenges in the next two games but I expect these guys to be sitting in a position to have homefield advantage come playoff time.
4. San Dimas Saints (5-1): The Saints offense that we have been seeing for the past season and a half didn’t show up on the field today, but that had a lot to do with facing one of the leagues strongest defenses. The Saints have three tough games in a row, but the results will show us where they stand in a very tough Elephant Conference.
5. Morocco Camels (4-2): Elephant Conference is going to be an extremely tight race down the stretch which makes it hard to rank teams that could end up anywhere in the standings at seasons end. After starting 4-0 and taking over the top spot the Camels have dropped two straight. The Camels should be able to win their next three games to get their train back on the tracks but who knows as elephant is so unpredictable.
6. African Killer Bee’s (3-3): The bee’s stung the Tractors today if they want to stay in the top 8 they need to play more consistently. When clicking this is one of the best teams in Elephant.
7. Russian Tractor (4-2): The tractors dropped a close one to the Bee’s today but are still sitting in a fairly good position in a tight Elephant Conference. The next few games should vault them into an excellent position before closing out their season.
8. River Styx Jinx (4-2): The Jinx are hoping to make the playoffs this season and are currently sitting in a great position, however the remainder of their schedule includes 6 of the 7 teams ranked ahead of them as well as a few other tough challenges. Because of the quality of elephant, splitting their final 10 games probably wont be good enough.
9. Somalia Wildcats (2-4): Im no longer sure what to think of these guys, but I still think they have a very good chance of making the playoffs in Elephant. Each of their 4 losses have come at the hands of top teams, and for the most part they have been more than competitive. Can the Wildcats finish of their season with enough “umph” to squeak in?
10. Mozambique Thundercats (3-3): Have had an up and down season, but have looked solid against tough competition for the most part. This is another team that is more than capable of making the playoffs, but will they be able to nudge their way in in a very strong conference?
11. Mogadishu Malice (3-3): Malice are en route to finish with a much improved record compared to season 3, but I just don’t think they have what it takes to make the playoffs this season in Elephants
12. New Jersey Blaze (1-5): Well I thought these guys unfortunately got the raw end of the scheduling to start the season, but the way it is shaping out every game is a tough game in Elephant and im not so sure the Blaze are capable of digging themselves out of this early season hole.
13. Chicago Wheelhouse (1-5): The Wheelhouse have had a tough opening schedule which has placed them in a currently poor position, but I expect they will be able to pull off enough wins that relegation wont be an issue at seasons end.
14. Congo Death (2-4): The death definitely get credit for their win over the Bee’s, but the other 5 games this season haven’t been pretty… including their win over the bottom ranked Cannibals.
15. High Plains Drifters (0-6): The Drifters have shown that they have quite a bit thus far this season, but unfortunately just aren’t quite competitive with the top teams. If this team can avoid relegation they should be making some noise next season.
16. Lake M’Zumba Cannibals (0-6): I hate targeting teams for this, but I think the Cannibals are once again headed for relegation. They have a solid roster in place but are unfortunately just a few levels behind the rest of the field.
If anyone else wants to pick up the torch ive heard great things about league projectors and power rankings systems and have heard that they dont take much time once installed... and there are even a few macro's out now that will automatically pull most of the information making it effortless.
