Stupid move for Favre? Discuss

I think it is a bad move unless the Jets trade him to Minnesota or even Chicago. Even Tampa Bay would have been a better place for him. The Jets are not even close to being contenders and wont be contenders before Favre retires within the next 2 seasons I'm sure. Hell even Buffalo is better than them. They aren't even close to the Patriots, so I don't understand the move. Maybe he should play for the Giants, because he is actually a better QB than Eli.

I don't think he will be a jet I think this is the first stop in a multi trade deal.

Man, if he ends up in Minny... I'd be ecstatic as him and AP would be a dynamite combo and make MN a real superbowl contender with that stingy defense... Don't know if they Jets would trade him to MN, there may still be some blad blood over some draft day dealings in the past. (nothing big, but you know how these things drag out)

I heard the Packers put in the deal that if the Jets trade Favre to Minnesota they would have to surrender 3 first round draft picks, so obviously they can't trade him there directly.

But they could always trade him indirectly lol
I think it's sad to see him out of the bay tho, that's the only team I could see Farve playing for

If the Jets trade him to Minn, they owe GB 3 first rounders. Steep price to pay.

Even if Minn offered 3 first rounders for Favre (they wouldn't - no one would) I am not sure the Minn (low) first rounders would be enough to compensate for the Jets (mid-high) first rounders.

Green Bay to Gang Green for Mr. Favre. I wonder how many SNF flex games happen to be "crucial" Jets' matchups...

Most over rated thing in the NFL, draft picks.

To an extent this is true.

However, I would be hard pressed to pull the trigger on a deal in which I receive a great player for one or two (max) years in return for giving up 3 guys that may or may not contribute for the next 5-10 years.

If the Jets don't win this year (when the Jets don't win this year) Favre will pull the same retirement bullshit and try to land in <<insert 2009 Free Agency winner here>>.

He wants to retire like Elway so bad it is clouding his judgment.

To be honest Farve should have stayed retired, took the money and enjoyed his past fame.He will never be able to match his past glory with Green Bay and this will be part of his legacy.Instead of remembering Farve for the great player he was he may only be remembered for his failure if he does not succeed. The sad part is he will not make any drastic improvements to which ever team he finally lands on, his gunslinger mentality is going to cost whatever team he plays for not to mention the riff it will cost in the locker room.

The man wants to play the game, he should play the game. Who cares about the drama. If you want to do something freaking go for it and dont listen to all the naysayers.

Favre in New York = Joe Montana in Kansas City (Whoop-de-freaking-do)

The Jets defense is the problem.
They're not better than Pittsburg, Jacksonville, and may be worse than Buffalo, Cleveland, and Tennessee. They've got their work cut out for them to get a wild card spot.

Also, draft picks are *NEVER* overrated. They provide cheap quality labor for several years. Obviously you need veterans around them, but look at how the Redskins destroyed themselves over the years because they kept giving away draft picks.

Montana lead the Chiefs to a home playoff game his first season.

Favre wont be .500 with Jets. Big difference.
