Well after last weeks lack of a write up, I’m doing my best to make up for it this week. My D-Monks let my predictions down, and so did Wrexham, but I get to take my frustration out on them this week for screwing it up.
Here’s how I’m doing so far.
Week 1: 7-1
Week 2: 6-2
Total: 13-3
So without further ado… here are your week 3 predictions.
Game of the Week:
Basin City Blues (2-0) @ Belfast Mafia (2-0)
This week’s GOTW features the only match up between 2-0 teams. BCB is coming off a huge win last week against Dublin, while Belfast has had it pretty easy the first 2 weeks this season, and is getting their first true test. Belfast is lead on defense by DE Donkey Dick who leads the team with 4 sacks and 2 forced fumbles. His main focus this week is slowing down the running game of BCB and RB’s Sherlock von Einstein and Tyler Branson.
BCB had the big win last week, and I think they have a chance to do it again this week again against an untested Belfast team, but in the end, I’m picking the Mafia to go home with the W, 31-24.
Crimson and Cream Sooner Machine (0-2) @ Warsaw Knuckleheads (2-0)
The heavily favored Knuckleheads are hosting the Machine, and are led by RB Kal-El Jones are looking to move to 3-0. CCSM has had a very tough start, losing to both the Irish teams, and now moving west to take on Warsaw. I don’t see them having much luck, and Warsaw leaving this game with 3 wins, winning by at least 28.
St. Louis Storm (0-2) @ Transylvania Bloodsuckers (2-0)
St. Louis is really going through a gauntlet of games to start the season. Tough losses to Warsaw and Grim have them at 0-2 and this week doesn’t get any easier with the Suckers this week. Both games have been close but they couldn’t pull it out in the end. The boys from Transylvania have a couple wins under their belts, and are still counting on that passing game to lead them to victory and I see this week being no different. The storm has to continue to weather this tough stretch as I’m picking the Suckers to take this one home, 24-14.
Kilkenny Cannibals (0-2) @ Amsterdam Arctic Blast (2-0)
After a close call in week one, the Blast picked it up last week with a big win over Ithaca, and are going into another game this week that they are favored in. Kilkenny was upset last week, and are looking to return the favor to the Blast. Rut Men is leading the ground attack for the Blast as they look to move to 3-0. Justin Koos and the Cannibal defense have their hands full, and in the end I’m guessing they come up short, 27-14.
Clydesdale Colts (0-2) @ Grim Reapers (2-0)
Another match up on paper that just doesn’t look that close, Clydesdale like some other 0-2 teams has had a tough start to the season, and the new kids on the block haven’t had any success in their new home yet. Grim so far has stood up to their claim that they are among the league elite, pulling out a close win last week against the St. Louis Storm. There isn’t really much to this game as the Colts are heavily overmatched. I’m going with the Reapers by 28+.
Wrexham Maelor Brionnfhionn (0-2) @ Dublin Drunken Monkeys (1-1)
Both teams in this game are coming off of tough losses. Dublin is coming off of a very tough loss to Basin City in which they blew a big early lead, and Wrexham had a game where their offense forgot to show up. This game features 2 of the top 3 QB’s in the league in a game that sure to see plenty of moving the ball through the air. It’s going to come to who can move the ball on the ground, and I believe Dublin has the better running game, which is why I’m picking them in a nail bitter, 24-21.
Ithaca Space Munkees (1-1) @ Vatra Dornei Wraiths (1-1)
These two teams have a lot in common so far this season. Both of them hold one victory against the boys from Wrexham, and both have suffered losses against teams they thought they could compete against, and the game turned ugly. Both are looking to get on the good side of .500. This game features two of the leagues top receivers in the Munkees’ Fumm Ducker and the Wraith’s Bubba Little. It’s all going to come down in defense and which side is going to step up.
In the a “No one likes a cry Munkee” special…
I’m picking the Wraiths by 3… 17-14.
London Brawling Tommies (0-2) @ Oklahoma Outlaws (1-1)
I seriously debated putting this as game of the week because these are two very tough teams who are moving up in the league and they will be very successful this season. Two teams powered by very strong defenses, this one will come down to which offense can figure out how to crack the other d. Oklahoma has had a little more efficient passing game so far, and that’s why I’m going to pick them in this low scoring affair. 10-7.
