Signing free agents is brutal! I'm starting to wonder if we smell bad!

I'm beginning to think that it's pretty much impossible to sign quality players unless you already know them or know someone that knows them. I've only had two players sign with my team out of the dozens of contracts I've sent out.

So, basically, what I'm trying to say is: if you know of a good WR, CB, LB, DE, or OT, tell them to sign with me damn it!!

Dozens, thats it. Well, I have found that the key is to find the "great builds", and then go after them hardcore. It is better then pumping out 60-70 PMs to a bunch of guys, with only a few builds that really fit your needs. That way you don't fill your team with garbage, and when a "great" player comes along he doesn't dislike the position situation.

This season I was able to find a couple that's it, 2 centers, 1 guard, 1 CB and 1 LB.

Here's just an example of how bad it really is though -

I put up an inactive (since July 4th) level 17 Guard with a very mediocre build on the trade forum on Saturday. Posted I was only gonna take offers for 30 minutes and was just looking for min cash....I got $400K, and two offers that were at $375K.

To me that's out of whack and speaks to how desperate folks are, paying near max cash for a so-so player that is never coming back....

See this is what I'm talking about. We've sent out probably over 100 contracts and PM's and have signed one player this off season. It's so bad we are willing to sit our higher level players so we can get quality players and people still will not sign! I'm starting to think well lose about a third of our squad during and after this season. Hopefully we can still have a team next season. We need GLB to stop making teams and make this game more balanced for player and teams.

The new teams are capped though. At this point all the players you have and should be trying to sign should be above that cap. The new teams have nothing to do with it.

The biggest problem hawks are having is no one wants to be back up, we can sign amazing players all day long like we have but we have no depth. The problem I am having with the Noobs is no one just wants to play for a team that lost everyone.

Ah well then, we just suck! Plain and simple!

Really what I have found is most people want start and play for a team with a winning record and playing for a title every year. Hell I can't blame them but if that is the case how would a lower team build up to a championship contender if no one will play for them. Looks like you need to own all your players.

I agree with everything up until the last sentence. Players in this game have gotten far too self oriented and much less team oriented. People fail to realize that there is nothing wrong with helping rebuild a team and that teams that stick together are the teams that win championships.

I feel like the best way to win in this game is to get a group of friends (either IRL or through the game) to create players for the team.

Yea, pretty much everyone has turned down offers so far. It sucks. Even the deal we're trying to work out for Greg Martin isn't going through. I've tried contacting the owner of that team, and he's ignoring me.

Good luck guys! Lucky for us about 50 percent of our team is built around friends and there players.

Yah I'm fighting Leak's owner for a release right now so he can come to the Noobs.

That is what I started out doing with the Stunners. About half of the team is friends of mine, and I have a few more players from another web forum that I frequent which is actually where I picked the game up from. It's been a bit of a tussle at times with friends expecting to start just because they are a friend while other friends completely understand the team concept, so even this approach isn't problem free.

Beyond that I have been trying to recruit mature players and getting rid of the "me me me" players. I have found that our team forum is a very fun place and that everyone enjoys being. We may not ever be a championship contender, but I am confident that we will always stay competative, will all be together and will have a good time together for several seasons. That is all we are looking for in this game.

I actually had a very tough recruit that I landed and probably the main reason I was able to get a second and third PM from him was because I recognized from his avatar that he was most likely from the same metropolotin area I am in and I mentioned that in my first PM to him and included my town name. Turns out he lives in the same suburb as I do (what are the odds). This wound up being the tiebreaker in his decision to play for us, but I may not have even had a chance without that stroke of luck of being from the same town. Now I just need to take him out for a beer or two.

It's tools like this that just really piss me off!!!!!!!!!!!!
