Ok owners/GMs/OCs/DC, if you haven't been reading the forums lately, you might have missed that we're looking at maybe doing a Coach's Poll after every game. Not 100% sure as to who's going to tally the votes just yet, but I'm posting this to feel out how many would be interested and could find the 10 mins or so within about 24 hours of each game ending to rank your top 10 teams and PM them to the person who's going to tally them up. The point system will work as follows:

1st place - 10 points
2nd place - 9 points
3rd place - 8 points
4th place - 7 points
5th place - 6 points
6th place - 5 points
7th place - 4 points
8th place - 3 points
9th place - 2 points
10th place - 1 point

The scores would be tallied up once the deadline comes around and then posted. The preference is that your vote is based on a touch of research, but it is your team's vote, so you can vote based on alphabetical order if you so choose.

Ok...now that we've got that out of the way...who is willing to set a handful of minutes aside a couple times a week and do this? Again, an owner is the preferred person, but anyone else that the owner trusts would work just fine.

I'll make sure Nebraska's vote goes out after every game. Just tell me where to send it.

Me too...thanks to whoever's doing the work. Will this be separate from the power rankings or an aspect of it?

It would be a separate ranking system. We would have a coach's poll, a math intensive ranking system, and a spreadsheet projector that's been passed on to many leagues. I'll contribute to the coach's poll and I'll be posting the spreadsheet after 2 more games. It really isn't accurate at all till about mid-season, but I'll post it after game 4 anyway just to give us something else to read and something for you to flame me for

split it by conference... While i know of and take a lok now and then on eastern conference..I couldn't coach rank and eastern team with any knowledge.

so coach poll the top 6 teams from each conference....that way you get the Play-off teams + the 2 fighting for a home play-off game.

also ensures equal representation by both conferences.

2 coach polls, one for each conference top 6 teams.

Count in the Air Force as well!

The Sasquatches will also send in our poll if we get this thing going.

Edit: And I like Hanz's idea of only voting for the top 6 in your own conference.

Having done the power poll the first two weeks, I don't think it's too hard to figure out the other conference.

I think each owner should just rank the top ten teams in Canada A6. Points will be given for each spot, and the team with most points will be #1, then on down. Don't think it would really be too hard, and we'd have several teams that will get points that won't make our top ten that receive points that we can put on there as the outside looking in.

Does Les Miles only cast his vote for SEC teams every week? Pete Carroll only Pac 10? It's supposed to build awareness. I really don't think it takes long to take some of the top records and take a glance at their line-up and who they've faced to make a quick judgement that is essentially a secret ballot without any consequence for expressing your opinion. Just my thoughts.
