Early look at games tomorrow, a couple stand out as interesting match-ups.

Zurich v. Berlin - Zurich has shown signs of quietly becoming a very good team. I'm curious to see them in action again this week.

Cedar Creek v. Ironton - The heir apparent to the Italian Stallions this season faces off against the newcomers in Cedar Creek. I know all of Zeta will be watching looking for some chinks in the Tank armor.

Games of the Week
Massillon v. Liverpool - Two strong teams that were in the playoffs last season looking to get back again. Early season success will be pivotal to gain home field advantage.

Camelot v. Chelsea - Two playoff teams from last season face off in Zeta this week too. I think the phrase "three yards and a cloud of dust" could spring to mind during this one. Expect some nastiness in the trenches.

I'm loading up the armor piercing rounds right now in our tanks. Got the Tank Battalion in full swing, but with gas prices so high, we couldn't fill up =P

Ahhh holy hell grizzlies!!! We had your asses right up till the final mins in the 4th! Even after you scored your TD we had a chance to drive back... incomplete throws all the way down the field and then we didn't even try to tie the game with a FG at the fricken 35 yard line!! We could have nailed that 50 yarder!!

Bah!

Good game though guys you played really well. You had us out leveled by 3 with our Offense to your Defense so we'll be looking forward to a rematch in the play-offs!

Thanks man. We've been thinking about this game since our loss to you last season. We were tied at 15 with less than 30 seconds left and our qb threw a pick deep in our own territory. You guys went on to kick the game winner.

Bottom line is we've had 2 fantastic games so far, hope to see you again in the playoffs. Hopefully we'll have our kick coverage fixed by then....

Your team played well today, pike. Of course Massillon is doing well, we have to play them to finish the season. I'll try to get the recaps up before I go to bed tonight.

*snaps the whip* Well, get on it!

I look forward to reading your sports-desk announcements almost as much as I like watching the games, sometimes.

Hey guys.. Been a busy day. Here's the Zeta conference highlights and I'll try to get the Alpha before I have to go to work. Enjoy

Bay Area Invaders 0 Brighton Bears 105
Over 350 rushing yards, 75% completion percentage, and 10 offensive touchdowns about say it all for this game. The Invaders just don't have the players to compete with the rest of the league. Expect more lopsided showings like this the rest of the season. After returning an interception for a touchdown, Terence Newman picks up the fumble on the ensuing kickoff and takes it in for his second touchdown in just under 10 seconds.

Gibraltar Wild Monkeys 7 Helsinki Hammers 69
When I say Gibraltar isn't as bad as the total 122 points they've been outscored by this season, you should believe me. Drawing another tough contest with the Hammers this week doesn't do much for making yourself look good. Helsinki's Adrian Rollins led the way for the Hammers through the air, completing 76% of his passes for 233 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Hammers' three-headed rushing attack combined for 7 total touchdowns themselves, while the team averaged nearly 10 yards per carry. Halfback Bubba St. James would not be denied the endzone on this pitch play in the fourth quarter.

Camelot Kings 9 Chelsea Cardinals 28
The score didn't necessarily reflect the close nature of this game as the Cardinals took control of the scoreboard early and never relinquished it. However, this game was filled with plenty of hard running and defense that was more often even tougher. TJ Owens broke the hundred yard mark and ran in two scores, but it was the passing of Dave Rosenbaum (though not his punting) that pushed them over the top in this game. He completed 58% of his passes for 190 yards and a touchdown. The Cardinals defense was paced by veteran corner Allen Holt. His 8 tackles mostly came from his consistent plays in the outside rushing lanes, one going for a loss. Allen also picked up his second interception of the season. With Camelot defense primed to limit the rushing attack, Paul Hart came up big with 8 receptions, including this one for a touchdown in the third quarter.

Cedar Creek Wildcats 7 Ironton Tanks 48
Cedar Creek's introduction to A2 continues to be tough this week with the Tanks in town. Everyone looking for holes to exploit on the Tanks didn't get much to see in this one. They were solid from start to finish. The Tanks won with their typical stingy defense and a balanced offense that saw 200 yards passing to go along with over 300 on the ground in this blowout. Linebacker "Knockout" Jones had 2 sacks for the Tanks defense, and receiver Duane Lemieux continually stretched the field racking up 123 yards on 4 catches. The second of his two touchdown catches came on this play in the second quarter.

Liege Red Roosters 0 Eindhoven Breakers 38
Eindhoven blanked the host Roosters while racking up nearly four times the yardage on offense. Breakers QB Darth Chadius had an amazing day completing 11 of 12 passes (that's nearly 92% for those keeping track) for 118 yards. Running back Tyler Wilde had another big game this week finding the endzone 4 times. This second quarter run was the first of them.

Munich Maulers 10 Copenhagen Razorbacks 7
The Maulers won their second game of the early season over visiting Copenhagen. Maulers QB Outfor Blood had a big day throwing the ball 50 times and finishing the day with 178 yards through the air. The play of the day however belonged to the Razorbacks. This play where middle linebacker Olaf Eriksson picks up the loose ball and runs it into the endzone gave Copenhagen a temporary 7-0 lead.

Rome Bulls 41 Downey Vikings 17
Rome had their way in another game with some prolific passing. Starter Stan Grady completed 71% of his passes, while the Bulls' runners piled up nearly 300 yards on the ground. Uber Charge averaged over 7 yards per carry and landed in the endzone three times, including on this run, his second touchdown run of the first quarter.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=108917&pbp_id=1426209

Hamburg Parrots 3 Rockaway Knights 17
Rockaway got in the win column this week after their trip to Hamburg. The Knights defense held the Parrots to just 154 yards of total offense, while the offense moved the ball well. De'vion Moore rushed for 137 yards on 28 carries and accounted for both Knights touchdowns. He took this pitch in for a score in the second quarter to give Rockaway the lead after the Parrots' early field goal.

And now the boys from Alpha get their due. Lots of blowouts this week in Alpha, and then the best game of the week snuck in there too.

Amsterdam Fire 85 Tilburg Fighters 10
This was never really a contest as Amsterdam piles up 806 yards of total offense, 445 yards through the air. Last week was the week of the running back. Well, this week the passers had their say too. Mr. Muscle completed 15 of 20 passes for 341 yards and 4 touchdowns, averaging 17.1 per attempt. This 71 yard "pitch and catch" to tight end Klein pushed the early lead to 21 points.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=108810&pbp_id=1426445

New Denmark Pirates 0 Rotterdam Harbourmasters 48
Outmatched from the start, the Pirates struggled to even stay in this one for much of it. The Rotterdam defense held them to well under 100 yards of total offense, and this pass from Fox to "Sticky Fingers" Powers contributed to their 27-0 half time lead. Silas Fox finished with 250 yards and another touchdown.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=108859&pbp_id=1434366

Malta Ospreys 0 Barcelona Bulls 83
Another game in Alpha that was over before it even started. Barcelona hit the Ospreys early and often to leave little doubt who the better team was in this contest. The Bulls defense held Malta to a paltry 8 yards rushing on 30 carries, a number improved by 7 total sacks. Quarterback MJ McLoving only completed 5 of his 11 passes, but those completions went for 105 yards and 2 touchdowns. This hookup with Boerger in the first quarter gave the Bulls an early two touchdown lead.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=108833&pbp_id=1430637

Ljublana Chamois Scabs 31 Judah Lions 16
Judah managed less than 50 rushing yards in this contest. While not reaching the endzone, Scabs receiver Jeremiah Skywalker reeled in 13 catches for 102 yards to keep the offense moving. The "other" receiver, Jack Cuervo, racked up 88 yards on 4 catches, including this big touchdown play in the fourth quarter.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=108783&pbp_id=1430146

Massillon Grizzlies 23 Liverpool Scousers 20
The game of the week in Alpha lived up to its billing. This was a dog fight from start to finish, with Liverpool entering the locker room at half time nursing a 1 point lead. The Pitot returned the opening kick off for a touchdown for the Scousers, making that early lead possible. It, of course, came down to the 4th quarter. This 14 yard sprint up the sideline by Richey Capone with under 2 minutes to play set up the game winning touchdown a couple plays later.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=108822&pbp_id=1436822

Madrid Hares 52 Paris Penguins 10
We go from the exciting Grizzlies-Scousers match to a few more blowouts in Alpha this week. The Hares marched up and down the field in this one. Dryst Bludgeon finished with 144 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Barracus had 74 yards on the ground and also took this punt back to the house for six in the fourth quarter.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=108797&pbp_id=1436021

Scotland Celtics 51 Cherry Valley Wizards 20
The Celtics were too much for the Wizards and outgained them on offense nearly two to one. Scotland running back Marcus Hanel was the hero of the day for the Celtics with his 216 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns. This 66 yard score came in the opening moments of the second quarter.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=108768&pbp_id=1431122

Zurich Gnomes 24 Berlin Wall Crushers 6
For those interested to see how much the Gnomes had come along, they certainly did not disappoint. Quarterback Chihuahua completed 57% of his passes for 180 yards and a score to lead the way for Zurich. Wide receiver Reggie Langhorne had a terrific day reeling in 7 catches for 169 yards, including TD catches from both Gnome quarterbacks. This catch over the top from Chihuahua came in the fourth quarter.
