AP Burlington, Vermont

The past two seasons have shined warmly on the Vermont Ice Storm...an inaugural first home playoff game in season 2, along with a trip to the conference championship last season has many Ice Storm fans hoping this is the season...

"We've been coming to Ice Storm since the first season...and we definatley think this is the season we go all the way," explained off season Vermont resident John Leclair. "The Ice Storm has been great for the state of Vermont...theres nothing better than getting to the Blizzard about 6 hrs early...grilling up the steaks and Lobstah...washing it down with Ice Cold Otter Creek...and watching the Ice Storm kick some ass", says Leclair. Many sports fans remember John Leclair from his days as a member of the World Champion Montreal Canadians, and also his seasons spent making up 1/3 of the line on the Philadelphia Flyers known as the Legion of Doom. Leclair recently started the official Ice Storm fan club, and not suprisingly, they have adopted the name, "Legion of Doom" as their calling card. "There is a very Nordic tradition in the Green Mountains, Mountains as hard as Iron, and as cold as Ice. Really, picturing a bunch of crazed Barbarians decked out in boiled leather chest plates, spiked iron helms, and faces painted like skulls fits right in with Greem Mountain Lore," Leclair explained further.

"This is a team built around one of GLB's finest Defenses, a punishig running attack, and a passing attack that suddenly appears to be taking flight. Our new QB Brady Grogan has really stepped up to take a shot at the starting QB job. Hes got a cannon, and balls of iron, the perfect guy to lead our offense down the field." The addition of new WR Anquan Warwick helps to fill out a move improved reciever core. The passing game will still feature their star TE Drink N Drive, and FB Brian Leonard will pave the way for Tris and Kick, the Ice Storms version of Lightning and Thunder.

"We know it aint gonna be easy," stated co owner Vt_Dolfan, "there are some damn tough teams in this league, like every year. If we can continue to improve the way we have from season to season, we think we have a solid shot at getting to the A#8 title game." When asked about Da Nola, VT groaned, and had this to say. "That team right there forces me to keep the Tums company in business. Every damn day we take a look at some tape of them..and every damn day I am reminded of how much a pain in the ass it is to beat those guys." There are probably 14 other teams in the Eastern Conference who hope to give the Ice Storm the same kind of fits.

Next Up....Game One versus the Crimson Marauders!!!

Today PinTBC the owner of the Crimson Marauders held his first press conference as a member of the A8 Eastern conference. The Marauders won the BBB#16 conference last year and as their "reward" they were moved up a league.

"We are looking forward to competing in this conference, and hope to bump heads and hold our own against some very good teams. This should be a good year for everyone involved."

Question - "You go from being a powerhouse in a lower league to being pretty much run of the mill here, how do you address that with your team?"

"We are looking forward to competing in this conference, and hope to bump heads and hold our own against some very good teams. This should be a good year for everyone involved."

Question - "Your injury report looks like a collection of about half your team, there are rumors that you are not being wholly honest with that report, any comments?"

"We are looking forward to competing in this conference, and hope to bump heads and hold our own against some very good teams. This should be a good year for everyone involved."

Question - "Why did you hold this press conference instead of your coach?"

"He has been accused of not being "Media Friendly, so I came out instead, oh and did I say, "We are looking forward to competing in this conference, and hope to bump heads and hold our own against some very good teams. This should be a good year for everyone involved."

"You all have a good day! We are trying to prepare against a VERY good Ice Storm team."

As I've said before, it doesn't get any easier in AAA4!!!

Atlanta Hitman who won the A8 East last year managed a OT FG or they'd be 0-3 thus far!

The Gurupies have a brutal schedule to start. The first three games were against the three teams left who beat us last year. We lost the opening game despite killing them in the stat box. But got paybacks for the next two to take us to 2-1. Not a whole lot of games where you are sure you are going to win. Very competitive. Will Vermont be moving up after this season?!?! We will soon find out.

My money is on either us or Da Nola...but Ream, Manhatt, Nashville, and a few others could easily be there as well...

Question for you guys....is it levels that are still seperating teams, or is playcalling with the new AI having any affect?

I love the fact that ATL got hammered by a team with a ... similar roster setup. BTW, that team has the highest scouting bars I've seen. 48 overall, and all green. He must be a master recruiter.

i think its VT or NOLA, but anything can happen. there are several teams that have made some significant improvement and then there are the new guys...

I think its more play calling now that the AI is a bit more advanced. I had a few things i tried out in the other games that didnt bode well for us but its looking to be a test trial run this whole season until we can get the AIs down

Play-calling has a bit to do with it. The back and forth nature of the "adjustments" is also a tough one as it really ping pongs what will or won't work. Time your game well against the adjustments and you're money, have them ramp up or scale back a setting before some opponents and you're suddenly got a need for an entirely different game plan.

player build is more important than levels and in many instances supercedes even the best game plans.

It' a combination of things. First and foremost it's researching and studying. Then it's getting your tam to buy into a team concept and accepting whatever role they have to make the team better. Based on that it's tweaking and correcting mistakes in builds--or improving areas. Then it's game planning. Not telling you anything you don't already know, but we didn't do some things we should have early on last year and it took us a while to correct them. The higher level you are, the longer it takes to fix things.

for us (pimps) going against a beast like the Ice storm, it's still levels. They're just too strong for us still. We probably got outschemed too, but the levels would've been too much to overcome in any case.

Don't lose hope. We've been building for a couple of seasons now. Just take a long-term approach.

I'm really torn. I'm hoping this is the year the Ice Storm finally makes the AA leagues, but A8 is an awesome league with great personalities and great rivalries. If we can't play Nola every season, things just won't seem right.

No doubt....I really enjoy playing some of the rivalries...and I wish Nola and Us were in different conferences.....would be a hell of a championship game..and if we both made it...we could both move up...

Hey, NOLA is more ... westerer ... than any of those teams in Florida. Come on, make it happen!
