Just one year ago today, summer camp ended for the Stirling Crusaders and the basement team from the previous year confidently entered the season, going nearly undefeated as they waltzed into the playoffs. They quickly became the favored team of many, before facing an untimely upset loss to the Fearless Lions - a team which would continue through the playoffs to win a championship trophy.

The entire team was devastated by the upset. Even the new offseason acquisitions lost their motivation from simply being around the depressed crowd. The locker room used to be full of energy following practice and games as the team was excited for their next opponents, but the room lost its buzz and because a desolate wasteland. It didn't seem that the energy would ever return, and QB Jack MeHouff finally decided that he had to step up to motivate his team. After giving a rather inspiration speech after practice, and a night of reflection by team mates, the Crusaders came back ready to play. The team was even more explosive than last year, primarily because of the updated Linebacker Corps and WR addition Yack Butter. TE Harrison-David Dowds had some words of his own when approached by Asian reporter Trisha Takinowa.

"I think this could really be the year," HDD stated with more than a hint of confidence in his voice.
"Then again, I thought last year would be that year," the 500+ yard TE said with as much of a smile as he could muster up after a rough day at training camp.
"I haven't lived up to my contract. I know that," HDD said in an almost apologetic tone.
"I know the fans expect more. I will give more. We will give more. Stirling will have a championship."

When asked what made him so confident, HDD smiled lightly and said "I think the real question, is why wouldn't I be confident."

K Wide Right was approached after the camp where he drilled a 60 yard field goal right between the uprights. It was an untimed kick, but he had strong words which could make one think that he could replicate it in a game. For those of you who are unaware, Wide Right missed a chip-shot field goal against the Fearless Lions: Stirling lost by 2 at the end of the game.

"I know things would have been different if I hadn't made that mistake," he said, his hands buried in his face.
"But it's made me push myself this offseason. I'm ready to be a real asset to the team, and I think I've improved my accuracy a lot. I won't let what happened last year happen again. I don't want to fail. I will not fail."

The inspiring words of K Wide Right and TE Harrison-David Dowds could only make one wild with excitement for the upcoming season. Stirling fans, it's time to buy your tickets before they sell out for the season. This could be the year that your team, guided by the surefire arm of Jack MeHouff and the powerful legs of Matthew Alexander, earns the trophy that they've worked so hard for.

Visit your local sperm bank 5 times in the upcoming 20 weeks to save up the money. Good Luck Stirling, and keep that sperm bank money on hand so you can get yourself tickets for the championship games.
