So Bort is putting Penalties in this season, I'm sure most of you saw that.

What do you think?

Since I don't have time to sort through the 47 pages of BLAH dominating the thread explaining penalties, I was wondering if any of you know what will determine the penalty calls?

I see that Vision will dictate False Starts/Off Sides on the Line, but what about Holding, and Pass Interference? Did anybody run across what exactly determines whether or not those calls are made? Is it 100% Coin Flip random?

It's probably highly dependent on the 1v1 situation.

An O-linemen going up against a superior D-linemen, for example, may hold more often. If his confidence is higher he may still take a beating but not hold as much. As for pass interference, etc, I just don't know. Probably similar.

So it's a coin flip

The special abilities will play a large role in it I think. Hands for lineman and Smooth Operator for Corners will reduce the odds of holding and interference. Probably low vision will cause a majority of it too, vision seems to play a large roll in this kind of stuff.

I put same question up on the FAQ board and got that exact same response on there.

So we know the SA's will play a roll, but otherwise we don't have a fuckin' clue

I just wish he'd stop enticing us with these ALL NEW controls that will continue to make the game more determined by the PLAYERS and less by the Simulation flipping coins, and then put in this garbage that I KNOW will cause problems this season.

Just wait - in fact, lets have a little contest.

Who do you all think will the first person here (other than me bitching in this thread) to have a game decided because the Simulation flipped a coin and called a penalty.

It WILL happen this season. Both team will play great games, and then with 40 seconds left in the 4th Qtr somebody will score and it will get called back on a horse shit penalty and change the outcome of the game.

Not the same thing, and you know it.

Bullshit, there are hundreds of games that have been decided by non-existant holding/pass interference calls. If it happens in GLB, it makes it seem more realistic. Plus it'll give losing teams even more to complain about.

First of all, that's relative.

Every fan that watches their team lose on a penalty call bullshit.

Next, in College/Pro Sports if you have a legitimate claim on a bad call you can petition the board of appeals to look at the play and if it's determined a bad call was made, punishment is handed down on the officiating crew for the game.

Finally, this isn't a case of the "Refs missing a call" This is the case of the simulation flipping a coin and deciding to call a penalty. It could be on a 2nd & 3 in the 1st Qtr, or it could be on a Would-Be Game changing TD with :25 left in the 4th Qtr. But in both cases, it's just a coin flip decision, rather than being caused by any number of things:

Poor tackling skill caused the guy to facemask
Bad Vision made him behind his block, so he held instead
Ect...

I just want Bort to say that's what caused it, but right now all he's said is:

May as well be a coin flip irl too. It depends on if the ref had the proper positioning to see if a penalty really happened, or if he is going by what he thinks happened.
